so I finished and I loved it, I really loved Zhang Nan and Jaco Zhang's relationship. I liked seeing the mystery that is Yu Zai Zao unfold. The cultural arts aspects were great. I wasn't to stoked with the last episode because I didn't realize I was actually watching the ending because it was basically a special episode of the actual show they were filming with some storyline thrown in. it was supposed to be nostalgic but fell a bit short and felt anticlimax. The fact they actually ended the show with an artist like they ended other episodes seemed totally strange. I felt kind of like we were left hangingg though they wrapped up most things quite nicely. for me this is Zhang Nan's best role as she nailed it. I started her new one Gone With The RIn and I am really impressed with her performance in that one as well so far.
Am I the only one who didn't understand the last episode?? If someone could explain to me what the heck was going…
I think it is a preview for a possible part two but it was just completely confusing and sad honestly because if they do do a part two it will involve one of the worst drama tropes of them all, the amnesia trope, it already show by her dream that she wiil think the ML is her enemy so I'm very skeptical about how a part two would turn out
I thought it was great especially the main couple and Murong Wanqing. I would skip the weird epilogue episode though unless they really announce a part two
Premiere Date: May 20Trailer shows no hint of romance, it seems like it's going to be a pure drama. Trailer: https://twitter.com/dramapotatoevid/status/1659016919121551360
there is definitely the potential for romance for sure
So much to unpack with this drama, it was sooooo good and then......... well at least they gave us the killer raps post credits, it's the least they could do after tearing our hearts out
So I finished the first part and the second part comes out April 21st. I'm literally calling it, along with The Glory I think this will be one of the best of 2023! The first six episodes were so action packed and emotional it's hard to even wrap my head around what happens next especially with the ending of that sixth episode, I just want to cry. The kids really have to grow up fast and it's heartbreaking. The government really screwed those kids, now they send children to the battlefield, it's so freaking unsettling. I'm going to hate waiting until the 21st, it's sooooooo good, I have become so attached to the characters in just six episodes, I can't even express how great this drama is so far and how much worry I have for the second half 😰😬
I also don't have any problems with Chao Yue acting on Chong Zi character portrayal from beginning to the end…
I think most of the negativity comes from fangirls with second male lead syndrome whining about their favs getting hurt which is funny because second male leads or third wheel characters never get the girl or the female lead at least
I also don't have any problems with Chao Yue acting on Chong Zi character portrayal from beginning to the end…
yeah those comments criticizing and dropping after a few episodes really shouldn't be taken seriously. I loved Yang Chao Yue so much I started watching Heroes and she is just as adorable lol
For me this drama, like the name implies, is all about Chong Zi and her relationship with Yin Fan. I looooooooved Yang Chao Yue! I've seen tons of complaints about her character and I have absolutely no idea why, she is so cute and adorable. Her character especially at the beginning is a Sa Jiao character and I especially love that type of character if done right which I think Yang Chao Yue did an excellent job with. The story reminds me of Love and Redemption a bit where it's light and fun at first and then they just pile on the pain through misunderstanding after misunderstanding which is kind of annoying plus they introduce the amnesia trope in later episodes which I hate. Speaking of similarities to Love and Redemption, Yang Chao Yue did Sa Jiao way better than the FL in Love and Redemption who I thought was super annoying.
The story wasn't too bad but after the soul binding string in the last few episodes it got a little weird but with the epilogue, which is basically the ending, it ended up being quite nice. There were three characters I hated, Min Yun Zhong was terrible, he was sneaky and wanted to kill Chong Zi the entire drama. The other two were MiaoYuan who was so jealous and privileged she was evil, and Ting Xue who was a terrible person, both hated Chong Zi for no reason except jealousy and did terrible things to her. Fortunately those two got what they deserved but Yun Zhong definitely needed a greater punishment.
The love story was strong and Jeremy acts with his face which you rarely see, you could see all of his emotions through his facial expressions alone. When the two do finally sort of figure it out it's pretty cute but unfortunately everything is against them so they also feel a lot of pain. I loved the ending epilogue which really is just the ending because it starts exactly where episode 40 leaves off so don't think 40 is the end. Episode 41 is on Viki.
I would definitely recommend especially if you like well done Sa Jiao characters, but remember there is a lot of pain and sadness in this one as well, the ice prison scenes are pretty much unbearable.
okay so now I'm 32 episodes in and I still don't get why there is so much hate on this drama, especially on Yang Chao Yue who I personally love and is the best reason to watch this. Like to me if you like Love and Redemption there are definitely similarities and I definitely like Chong Xi better than the FL in Love and Redemption, the FL was so annoying as a Sa Jiao character and Yang Chao Yue is waaaaaaaay better and totally adorable. I think this gets most of it's hate because fangirls are so angry about all the guys that love Chong Xi and they get hurt. It's literally called The Journey of Chong Xi, meaning it's all about her, and from the very beginning it was about her relationship with her master and everyone else is just a side character. plus just like in Love and Redemption they get you to like the characters by making the story light and cute for close to half the drama and then unload pain on you for the rest by just creating misunderstanding after misunderstanding. I'll finish soon but even if it ends badly up until now I'm really loving Yang Chao Yue.
