While i admit that the ending wasn't perfect, the fact that he ended with Hwa Jin at the beginning is pretty simple. He thought she's the one saving his life, not gonna lie, but for me (and many others), what the king felt for her was not love. He wanted to protect her just because he thought she saved his life. On the other hand, while he did like SY from the start, he couldn't forget that he has a mission. And that her clan was his biggest enemy. My biggest problem was the directing, it they wanted to go with this ending, they should have made us believe that he loves SY. I'm sure he loves both, which sounds kinda weird. But I can't rate this drama less than a 10 after making my weekends so much better for so many weeks. And i agree, i didn't feel bad at all when that psycho died. After everything he did.

In episode 18, before she left the palace, she told him that he didn't even realize that she's not the same person he loves so that's why he's going to ask her what have you done with So Yong and many memories will come back making him want to protect her again. He's a psycho.
I honestly liked that we got to see less of the king. It really helped showing that no matter who's in that body anymore, the love for the king is endless. Yes, he's a main character but try thinking from the writer point of view, showing him recovering would have been worse and boring. I liked seeing the Queen leaving to find her love, the sadness when she thought he's dead, the way everything was about the king only, she couldn't think of anything else. All these scenes and I'm sure, the ones coming in last 2 episodes, were worth the king missing for once. I'm sure we gonna see him back stronger than ever and saving his precious queen.

Unpopular opinion, but all the disliking i had for Hwa Jin, kinda faded away in this latest episode. Sure, she did many wrong things and sure, she's not one of my favorite characters but i kinda wish for her to have a happy ending. Because one of the greatest things is to realize that you're wrong, even if is later than it should have been. And she did, I feel like she's gonna die.
