Well those who have read MDZS, Yuwu and SPL; the question is for them. For the rest, it's a request, please refrain from reading further in case you do not wish to be spoiled.
While reading SPL, it suddenly struck me, that all these MCs and MLs are so similar to each other. For example - take Wei Wuxian, Gu Meng and Gu Yun. They lost their parents at a very early age, but still they are very cheerful, have a very big heart, quite forgiving in nature, not hold any grudges and move ahead in life, always disregard their personal safety in order to do good either for country or for people.
Now their partners - Lan Zhan, Mo Xi and Chang Gang; they made their partners their whole world. They could go against the whole world for them. Lan Zhan fought with his entire clan, received 33 whips. But he preferred to stick to his single bridge. Mo Xi challenged the Emperor for Gu Meng. Ultimately sacrificed himself for Gu Meng's cause. Chang Geng became an Emperor to gain power in order to protect Gu Yun. His sole motive or goal was to keep Gu Yun safe.
It's as if this ideal setting is the foundation or the background for the characters.
What is your opinion? Coz' I have read only these few books, so I found it quite similar.

I agree with you whole heartedly. They deserved such ending. But I still could not hate them. May be I'm a masochist. A glutton and a sucker for pain. The more the angst, the more I like.

Yeah, agreed. Chang Gang is a little devil for sure. The way he so sneakily wrapped Gu Yun around his little pinky is really praiseworthy. Regarding He Yu, I am yet to read the novel.

When one is backed into a corner, they fight. Now whether you choose a right path or wrong, depends upon the person's mindset. After all Mo Ran redeemed himself completely. We can also say that even Shi Mei somewhat redeemed himself by the end. But Nangong Xu & Hua Binan they just thought that the end results justifies the mean.
But then Karma is a bi*ch. It's not so forgiving.

Agreed, the pacing of the story is well balanced. But few things are a little unclear. Maybe by the time I reach to the end of the story, I'll understand. Since I have never been interested in court politics, certain things are confusing. But haven't got bored yet.

I too desperately want to read it, but it is still ongoing isn't it? Also, I am actually afraid that after reading half of the novel, suddenly it will be announced that we gotta pay or else forget about the novel. Exactly like 2Ha and Yuwu. Then I will be scrambling to search where to read the rest of the story. Therefore, I'm a little reluctant to start this one.

I am not advocating for Hua Binan. Yes he was evil, but I was actually referring to his childhood trauma. He literally saw his father killing his mother, not only that but also being eaten. Imagine from the point of view of a child! If his mother had not asked him to run, he might have probably faced the same fate as her.
Also whatever evil deed he did, he did not have any selfish motive. He wanted to save his people. I agree he did a lot of atrocious things to many people, but ultimately he died to save his people. So I could not hate him.
Whereas this lowlife sect leader was purely driven by his greed, therefore I was actually disgusted by him.

Even if he wears the worst costume, I will still find him beautiful.

I lost count how many times I cried while reading the novel. I even cried for Hua Binan and Nangong Xu. At the end I could not even hate the villains.
The only person who left a bad taste was the one who kept instigating the crowd against Nangong Si. I forgot his name.

Those who have read Sha Po Lang, can you please clear what is this policy of farmer puppets? I understood that these farmer puppets are some kind of robots who can work in the fields. But how do they affect the distribution of finance and creating a huge disparity among people?
