To be honest I didn't watch this drama I personally thought it was too cliche for me , but then I started Coffee…
I tried watching Coffee and Vanilla (I'd seen this first) but I found it felt too predatorial. Does it get better or is that just the overall vibe of the show?
Samee! This was my first asian drama too, also watched it on Netflix!
Same!!!!! Also, rewatching it after seeing so many other east asian dramas, I like the leads more. While the acting makes her a lot cringier, Nao's actual choices are often a lot less cringy than I thought when I first watched it. Like, she starts as the only one to not fall for Uehara and not take any of his bs when he tries to walk all over her. She doesn't go about it in the best way, but she at least tries to maintain some sort of dignity
Ok so I'm only 40 minutes in but I think I have to stop watching if this is going where I think it is -- her being naive enough to either give nudes which are going to be leaked or just straight up be raped at some point. And somehow everyone thinks she's promiscuous when she literally tries her best to avoid literally everyone ever? Also, is her brother supposed to be a third love interest? What is happening?
U obviously didn't understand the movie if u think this way
Maybe I'm overlooking the intention of the movie because I'm just upset that this is the way LGBT is VERY COMMONLY portrayed in media, which while "love transcends..." is great and all, it also feels like they're kind of glossing over someone's labels and general sexuality. It's not always about the person, part of it does happen to be physical attraction. It's a great thought, but we only see it when tackling an LGBT couple, it's never the message in dramas focusing on cis/het couples.
I admit my opinion is slightly jaded but I'm really just tired of trope inundating the minute amount of representation we have to begin with. It just feels like something of a cop out which invalidates being gay as a sexuality. There is pan/bi/whatever, but when a character says they're gay and goes through the emotional distress of having to come out AS gay, it just feels weird to watch them turn around and end up in a hetero relationship.
Plus the whole killing yourself to end up together thing? Just no. If he had gone on to move to a place where he could be out and meet other guys, that girl could have gone on to live a happy life as well, instead of KILLING HERSELF AT 16. Idc what you say, that's not romantic, that's tragic.
Gotta say, idc about the "love sees no ____" thing, I'm not here for that age gap, especially between a student and a teacher. It was wrong, she's a 10th grader. Plus I don't think he JUST loved Dew, I think he loved Dew because he was gay, so obviously he loved a man. Movies and shows keep doing this where they love the PERSON regardless of the body, but I still don't think a gay man would fall for his ex lover again in a little girl's body? That's just weird and not how being... gay... works? Plus the double suicide? Why can't there just be a gay film with a happy ending and no toxic/taboo relationships? Why is it always step-brothers or age gap? I don't get it. Also if anyone has any good lesbian movies/shows it would be much appreciated. The only one I know about it Yes or No.
Probably the only drama this long I didn't get tired of and have to force myself through, I was still thoroughly enjoying it right to the very end. Question though, who did Nantian impregnate twice? Like, did he suddenly become a player or just immediately get married to some random girl? I'm guessing that was just an excuse as to why he couldn't go to the wedding because the actor couldn't make it (?)
rewatching this for the 3rd time. It's one of my favorites .. but is it just me or the kiss in that room looks…
I never saw that before you mentioned it ahhhhhhh There's one thing in it that makes me think it's real: the way that Yuzuru's top lip moves as Touji kisses him (in a way that I don't think he could just have been moving his lip on his own) But ya, the lighting and angle makes it look super fake, but I could see it being either actually fake or just an illusion making it look that way
So... Is that just how it.. ends? Like, really? Is there going to be a S2? Did they really just end it on that note? Should I be upset or just confused and waiting for a S2?
YES YES THEY ARE. You should see the novel, ah. They even have BL side story for them.
Ok, so I read it (just from the end of the story on), but I'm disappointed that it was like just sex between the two of them. Like, KO moved in and boom they're fking that night. Every time KO feeds him they fk. Hao Mei only wants KO when he's horny and he's only horny when KO cooks for him. They're a cute couple but their entire story was just about sex?
So I watched this a while ago, but I still have some things which I was wondering if bugged anyone else as well: 1. The height difference between the young ML and old ML. Like, if they knew they needed two guys to play the young/old versions of each other, GET TWO THAT LOOK ALIKE. Instead they had him shrink a foot in 10 years. Like, the younger one is SO MUCH taller it just seemed like a too ridiculously drastic difference, even though I usually find that kdramas are good as getting two actors who look alike for their counterparts. 2. When AdultML forced AdultFL into drinking? Like, she said she didn't want to drink with him and he straight up pressured her into drinking when there was no reason for it? Her drinking with a friend doesn't make it okay for him to force her to drink with him?
Also, wtf. Why was there a doppelganger? Unnecessary and confusing. Made me think he had just lost his memory, which led to more questions until they finally revealed what had happened. And then it just ends with him still completely emotionally unstable but telling people he's fine?...
I have two different feelings on this: 1) I don't think the ending to a show has ever made me cry this much. Wayne Song's emotions. Just. Wow. I felt them. I cried with him. As devastating as it was, it was amazing. Amazing story. So much happened that I was crying from both sorrow and happiness and I'm just. Ahhhhh
2) I feel like while it's okay for some dramas to have sad endings, and they're still amazing, there are so few LGBT works that a disproportionate amount of them have sad endings, or at least, forego a true "happily ever after" that cis dramas have. In Trapped, one of the leads ends up in jail, with the other waiting for him. So at least they're together? Kind of? This one was doing really well in giving all the light, fluffy moments while also showing struggles with money, family accepting them, and loss of parents. But then to turn it around and leave one lead dead and the other emotionally scarred with a completely changed personality in the end? It was absolutely devastating and I just want a happy gay drama for once. Like, take the script/plot from a cis drama, and just change the lead characters to two of the same gender. That's all I want.
The drama actually holds true to the painful procedure of having braces lol. In fact, I actually got a string…
I've had braces too. Twice, actually. But after a week or so they stopped hurting. There was no blood involved, and aside from being incredibly sore at first, the pain went away pretty fast. They still hurt for you?

Also the name now makes sense
