I think in my philosophical mind this shows two lessons 1. The sins of thy father. In terms of great, korn, tyme and how the actions of they parents snowballed into this mess. Cause and effect. The children were already doomed from the beginning 2. How karma is a mangy dog that will bite you in the leg when you try to run from it. Actions have consequences, even those you feel should be taken in honour you will pay for your good or bad deeds through the front end or back end.
I have a lot of sympathy for those people that became collateral damage. I saw a lot of selfishness and carelessness in a lot of actions and maybe death is the penance but damn they better not do my boy tongkla like that. He should be at the border by now.

But in all seriousness. A memory card survived all that water and they happened to find it...and it worked? That was quite ambitious of a plot point for me but damn it bothers me how everyone was sloppy. Sloppy in concealing evidence , sloppy in making escape plans, sloppy in protecting grandma. Sloppy in not getting killed.
