On Who Rules the World Apr 27, 2022
Title Who Rules the World Spoiler
Unpopular opinion. I'm not bothered by the court politics. It actually makes sense to me when a major plot point is Lanxi's rise to power and the show is literally called Who Rules the World. He's not going to be able to suddenly rise to power after outsmarting an opponent once. Of course it's going to take time and tenacity. To me it actually seems like the writers are showing us a believable political rise, but I suppose if you were just in it for the romance and action it could be annoying. Also, I don't think it's all just mindless and repetitive drama. The writers have been setting up a lot of the stuff that has been happening. For example, I remember the latest stuff with Feng Chang being foreshadowed many episodes ago. Also, I am a big believer in just skipping stuff I don't like, and I have skipped so many courtroom politics scenes in so many high-rated Chinese dramas, but I haven't found myself wanting to in this one. But totally agree with complaints about Lusi's screentime. Can't wait for her backstory!

And just to be clear, I’m sorry I didn’t say this more strongly in the first place, I think it’s absolutely ridiculously they haven’t addressed this in any way or released an apology

I think he was wrong, I’m not really trying to defend him. But I don’t think it’s fair to assume that someone knows automatically the same things you do, even if it might seem incredibly obvious to you. The girl who made the comment in the orientation I mentioned grew up in the United States, which is a way more racially charged environment than Australia, and she didn’t know not to say the n-word when she sang (she was white). But either way, it doesn’t matter, he shouldn’t have said it. However, I think it’s far more sinister that he was allowed to say it during an official trainee evaluation, and it makes me question the culture of P-Nation and obviously SBS is wildly inappropriate airing it. I’m upset we haven’t heard an apology from any of the parties involved and I think one is necessary from everyone: Woo Kyung Jun, SBS, and P-Nation.

Agreed. He should have censored the word, but there is a learning curve. I remember at my college orientation presentation about microaggressions(huge one for whole incoming class), a girl asked if it was okay to say the n-word while singing along to songs, she honestly didn’t know any better. However, the trainers and higher-ups at P-Nation should, and they should have stopped him and definitely not allowed that clip to be aired.
