I understand your point but this drama is not just "addressing" those issues. The writer herself (mame) is known…
I'll try to address the points you made clearly.

First of all, I have nothing against Mew or Gulf or their acting. I believe they did their best and yes they had very realistic kissing scenes. But this is not about their acting, this is about the problematic impact that Tharntype as a show can have on people.

Second, you tell me that people need prejudice of some sort, they cannot be homophobic on their own. Once again you're proving my point, Type didn't need to be sexually assaulted in the past, there could've been any other reason for his homophobia. It didn't need to be rape, it's literally there for the dramatic effect which is not okay when it's not addressed in a healthy way like this show does.

Third, again you're proving my point. The scene didn't have to exist for Tharn to make his point. I watched the scene again to try to make my point across, and it truly is very unnecessary and not only that shows something very problematic. Type seems to be "liking" the stuff Tharn does to him, which is in a real life situation never okay and would not happen. Type was drunk and Tharn was taking advantage of him. Taking advantage of someone drunk is always rape. The scene in this show is romanticized and shows to the audience that the one being raped "likes it". I might not make sense but it is literally the directors choice to portray a scene like that and this scene could've been portrayed as something that is wrong to do, but it isn't portrayed like that.

Fourth, yes this show is R-rated. But that doesn't mean that the show could portray its scenes in a non harmful way. Every kind of media that deals with issues like mental health, rape, relationship issues and topics like being gay are reflected to the audience. The way this show deals with this stuff is very wrong in essence and viewers who are not perhaps familiar with some of these topics might think that the way they act in this show is okay. Yes, people should think on their own, but they always might not understand because of similar portrayal that is common in BL shows. When these problematic tropes that are romanticized are used over and over again, they normalize them. For example, someone might think that hitting your significant other is okay, since, well he's just "aggressive", just like Type in this case. But in fact this is never okay. These tropes are very hurtful to LGBTQ+ people, people who have been (sexually) assaulted and people with mental health issues.

So yes, while this is romance and a show that focuses on the falling in love they could've easily make it something not harmful.

Lastly, there are many shows that are like you'd say "not spoon fed" but this show is very clear about what it wants to show and it isn't "neutral". This show feeds into the trope of romanticizing rape and shows the characters actions in that way, mental health issues are discussed in a way that makes them almost taboo and once type falls in love with tharn, his mental health issues are almost non existent. This show is not neutral and it is in fact spoon fed. Sorry if I didn't make sense and thank you for sharing your ideas.

I don't want to impose but I personally think that what sets this apart from other series is its willingness to…
I understand your point but this drama is not just "addressing" those issues. The writer herself (mame) is known to using these problematic plot points as shock value. They're not there to see the reality of things, they're there just for the plot. The story would've worked without Type having been raped in the past, he could've just simply been homophobic. Tharn didn't need to take sexually advantage of Type when he was intoxicated to get his point across. The problem with these "plot points" is the fact that they're normalized and romanticized. I hope you understand that the way this show deals with rape, mental health issues and so on reflect to real life. Gay people exist, people have mental health issues and they're not just solved by dating a guy.

Exactly. This drama was problematic af and people who love it really need to rethink their lives and their choices.
I'm still so disgusted by this show that I have honestly no words. I can't understand who in their right mind would watch it and think it's cute. Especially as a gay person myself it hurts that my community is portrayed this way, and even worse, all these problematic things are romanticized. sorry for ranting I'm mad hahahhaah

whoever says this episode was "boring" or smth like that. Are you for real? I'll be fine with it if you only stan saizon but this episode truly was so good. This is probably the first time in BL I see such a healthy portrayal of us LGBT+ people. The sex wasn't portrayed as one-sided and both wanted it, there was no "wifey" stuff or "top and bottom", they asked for consent and they used protection. They showed us realistically a gay relationship and honestly I'm so happy for that. For once I don't feel diminished for my sexuality and I'm here for it. This should be the standard for BLs and I hope it continues to be so.
