The movie has some intriguing puzzles, but something else caught my attention. Chitanda's character is introduced as a top student with an admirable reputation, but she seems to rely heavily on Oreki to solve cases. This seems unnecessary and disappointing, as she is a capable character. It would be great to see her take more initiative and showcase her critical thinking skills. Instead of setting impossible tasks, it would be great to see her work alongside Oreki and contribute equally to their investigations - instead of literally begging he solves riddles for her. This is so unnecessary.

I'm a history buff here and enjoyed the deep dive into Jeon Tae Il's story. He's famous even today and significantly impacted the labor movement, so his sacrifice wasn't in vain. The film did a great job exploring the character and respectfully reminiscing Korean history.

I really love the experimental deep dive into shamanism. An exciting gaze behind the curtain and its repercussions is all I needed today.

First of all, I didn't realize that the director is indeed the actor. All the famous cast choices made me wonder and check it in the end.
Secondly, the shirt film is well done. It's a bit predictable at times but it's well acted.
Thirdly, what do you mean with “too old for BIGBANG”? What a nut case!

On The Admiral: Roaring Currents Feb 29, 2024
The decision to embark on the journey of watching the highly acclaimed trilogy had been a long time coming. The first installment, which is considered the most successful movie of all time in terms of admissions, is based on the legendary battle between Admiral Shin Yi Sun and his 20 turtle ships against 300 Japanese warships. As the story is widely known, it requires no further introduction. It has been passed down from generation to generation, and even children in Korea are aware of it. Consequently, Korean fans may not find the movie particularly surprising, but the film's primary objective is not to shock. Instead, it aims to provide an accurate retelling of the myth, recreate historical artifacts with precision, and celebrate Korean identity. These objectives are achieved through the director's creative ideas and the use of CGI. Although the first act may seem a little overwhelming, the second act resolves any confusion and makes the story accessible to individuals unfamiliar with the narrative. The acting, make-up, and music are all flawlessly coordinated in a manner that is quintessentially Korean. It is not difficult to comprehend why this film holds such immense significance.

Title Me and Me
First of all, I need to say that I can't understand all the nagging in the comment section. The film was decent. Because of its unlucky synopsis description, I expected something completely different. So let's talk about the context: a couple burns to death. A grumpy cop comes to the village and gets suspicious. The next day, he wakes up as one of the fire victims and tries to make sense of his situation.
Secondly, the movie is well done. It uses a slow pacing to give room for its characters. Some are lovely, and others less interesting. It's indeed partially frustrating to watch the cop act every day without any direction or plan. That's where the draggy stil comes in the others talked about it.
Thirdly, the ending was underwhelming. I rarely point that out in movies, but here, it's a huge deal. So, with all its obscurities I’d say it's best to view this film as a Slice of Life drama with weirdos. Then you'll have fun for sure.

Title Kingmaker
Important film about the ethical dilemma of modern times whether any unjust methods can be justified to achieve one’s goal if the person believes it is desirable. If so, where would be the permissible range?

Set in the 1960s-70s, “Kingmaker” revolves around an opposition party politician who dreams of becoming president and his excellent strategist. It was motivated by mysterious election strategist Eom Chang-rok, who worked for former President Kim Dae-jung, who became president in 1998 in the culmination of a decadeslong political career. As far as I understood it is the lead actor Sol Kyung Gu responsible for the change of names - because of the pressure in portraying an actual famous person and its habits he proposed to the director to use imagined names instead of true personalities. Of course, the synopsis is based on real life events but the portrayal and its characteristics are based on the interpretation of the actors. Personally I liked the small details that gave away hints for KDJ again and again. The injured leg should be the most obvious one.

Let’s talk about the movie:
I really enjoyed the whole ride into partially true history. When you’re in Korea and ask the people for their favorite President it’s mostly either Park Chung Hee or Kim Dae Jung (from my personal experience). It all depends where your political compass is headed. Because I also vibe with KDJ I was eager to watch the movie and had high expectations, especially when I got to know the whole crew. I wasn’t disappointed because the acting is extraordinary brilliant - fitting to the senior actors Stils. They captivated me all along and made the time travel a unique experience. However, I also enjoyed the creative intermissions like “aged black/white tv reports” or two masqueraded political cabaretist which gave you a time stamp within the story. The intrigues, mind games and versatile tricks to win elections are impressive and scary at the same time. So my fascination really pulled the strings and left me in awe with the story. Not really good but also not really bad characters - the truth is in the middle. But the overall question about what’s right or wrong to reach your goals build on your ideals can only be answered by the viewer and it’s quiet noticeable how modern is this philosophical question. Overall, I’m impressed and had fun with the movie. I’d wish we would get more movie portrayals about the Three Kim Era instead of the republican anti-heroes.

This particular movie follows a predictable plotline where the identity of the killer is disclosed early on. You can afford to doze off intermittently since not much is missed in terms of the story's progression.

However, if you choose to stay awake, the movie proves to be an enjoyable experience. Despite its simplicity, it manages to keep you engaged and entertained throughout. I believe I will revisit this film multiple times in the future.

I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed the production, mainly because most action films are bland and overused. If you're looking for a movie with a totally unique plot, this might not be it. But don't let that stop you from giving it a chance! The real enchantment of this film is in the way it spins an old tale into something fresh and captivating. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

The movie's unique storyline was a breath of fresh air and left me contemplating various thought-provoking topics. Although the plot may appear simple at first glance, it provided a soothing and gratifying viewing experience.

Title A Day
I had the pleasure of watching a movie that caught me off guard with its sheer fun and entertainment value. I was impressed by how well I connected with each of the characters and their individual journeys. The movie managed to take a repetitive day trope and turn it into something creatively captivating that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Additionally, the use of wordplay with "Haru" and the inclusion of German culture in the form of Toffifees was a nice touch that added an extra layer of depth and intrigue to the overall story. All in all, it was a fantastic cinematic experience that I would highly recommend to others.

Title Gatao
The production of the movie was constrained by a tight budget. Despite this, the filmmakers managed to create a captivating action flick with a familiar plot. Personally, I found the story to be lacking in unexpected plot twists, but it certainly provided a welcome distraction during a bout of illness. At times, I found myself drifting off to sleep, but the movie held my attention with its entertaining action sequences. Overall, it was a decent movie that achieved its goal of providing some light entertainment.
