One last point that you conveniently persist to ignore. As I’ve stated I could care less how the mains behave inasmuch as my own personal values. Your only rebuttal that o this far can discern is that only someone with the required “maturity” can understand the “complexity “ of this drama. To which I call,,,bullshit. These themes are as old as the written word. You have the spoiler check box. Tell me how the mains aren’t deeply psychologically screwed up, and how this won’t end without one or both dead. Because right now the writers have backed themselves into a corner.

Well nice comeback with the ad homonions that ands nothing to the discussion. But keep avoiding my critique you’re doing wonderfully. Inasmuch as my bring up “Back to 1989” apparently you’ve never had the occasion to compare dramas and in this case is did it bemoaning that fact that fan girls shamelessly prefer this to the aforementioned. I’m sorry you missed that point.

Thanksfor your understanding. To be certain this type of plot is not new or “complicated”. If you’ve lived long enough you probably will find people like the mains. It always ends up messy. I saw my brother and another couple go through relationships like this. Both ended predictably. But this is not the first nor last Taiwanese/ Chinese drama that (I foresee) will end up with a sugar coated ending.
Because it's not supposed to be fast paced. The whole idea is to slow down. This entire focus is in it's scenery,…
I’m happy for you that you found something you enjoy. Quite frankly I don’t need your permission not to enjoy it, and it’s not an “issue”. It an opinion presumably just as valid as yours. Chances are some people won’t think the same as you.

Firstly just because I find a drama incredibly stupid and the viewers that give it a pass a morally reprehensible doesn’t justify the equivalent of someone telling me I should find other dramas I like. It completely sidesteps my critique. Secondly, the female lead does not find the guy a jerk by the second episode. You can already see the writers are having her fall for the guy. Claiming she thinks he’s a jerk is disingenuous. Plenty of timed comments in Viki think his actions are so so sexy. So yeh... Thirdly, you’ve missed my point entirely. As I said I don’t care is they cheat. And I’ll extend that statement. I don’t care if they are both morally and ethically reprehensible. What I care about is if their reactions are true to their supposed characters. If he’s a dangerous jerk and she likes dangerous jerks then the story should lead to that conclusion wherein people get they want. But I don’t have high hopes as I have pointed out tdramas and this particular writer have a history of crappy writing. Further there are a select few Taiwanese movies the explore this dynamic serious. One for instance is “Anna Magdalena” wherein the ending is not “happy”. I’m going to keep watching the drama to see if it gets more “complicated” so that my mere 55 years of maturity can handle it. Inasmuch as calling people idiots for giving the drama a pass for incredibly stupid reasons I’m going to stick to it, especially when those reasons are laid out in comments so one can reference them historically when this drama ends. I must say your defense of this drama to the aforementioned “Back to 1989” is pretty spectacular.
All this talk about one needs a level of maturity to watch this is ludicrous. One needs a level of idiocy to appreciate it. I personally could give to fucks less that there is cheating in it. The fact the majority of viewers are okay with Kehuan illegally detaining Weiwei, harassing her non stop, and endangering her by putting her on the edge of a balcony speaks volumes of those viewers. Women like to pick the bad guy and then wonder why he treat her poorly. But hey, the guy is played by Jasper Liu so it’s okay. It is sad indeed that this series currently has a higher rating that “Back to 1989” a far better tdrama.
So Mi cheated on her fiance, they cancelled their wedding at the last min & everything/everyone was ok?
I’m glad you see my point. And if it was missed, I think it should have been stated in you original comment. Not trying to rag on you but to pick that one instance of cheating and not mention the other behavior as just as bad or worse is disingenuous.

My point is there are far more than one character with major moral issues. Picky one is understating the problems with the film. I have no problem with people liking it, but at the very least be honest half the character behave badly.
Think both are not very good. Was not a fan of WIL. But as a male who hasn’t acted like a sociopath and has a gf who finds it acceptable my experience is limited.
If didn’t include in my review but one observation I wanted to mention is how disappointing it is to see the acceptance of multiple (unwanted by the primary) female partners in relationships in China. I know it’s a real life issue. It’s shown poignantly in “Iron Women,” wherein the wife has to put up with the mistress living in the house. But here it’s just weird.
The second male lead pays for his indecisiveness and flirtations. But why is the primary lead putting up with this nonsense for so long until she moves out? I mean the primary lead has to be directed that it’s not appropriate? It’s almost as though this behavior is just fine in Taiwan and China
