I want to start watching, can anyone tell me which version has the best subtitles?

Whatever works in a manga won't necessarily work in a live action with real people. That scene was cliche and unrealistic, that's a valid criticism.

I wished I shared most of the other commenters' enthusiasm for this drama. I don't know what it is but there's something awkward about it and I don't think it's just Gongchan's acting being lacking.
What are we supposed to find likeable about his character? Why does Taejoon fall in love with him? the situation with the company is also not believable.
It seems to have a higher budget than most K-BLs but I'm not impressed.

I don't think it works that way. Script was probably finalised long before filming even started. Also, chemistry can be tested during casting.
