Repercussions Does not Exist

My Boss Orders Me Hot follows a fairly predictable storyline that follows the basic formula of short dramas. But the biggest issue lies with the fact that the drama relies heavily on rage bait.

The acting is surprisingly decent for a short drama. The cast does a reasonably good job, but the central romance was bland. The kisses feel flat, awkward, and lacking genuine chemistry.

It’s funny that this is a BL, but it feels secondary to the overall narrative. All the intimate scenes were saved for the heterosexual couples. The BL elements feel like an afterthought.

The most frustrating aspect, is the treatment of the ML. Throughout the story, he is subjected to an exhausting series of traumatic events, including attempted SA, physical beatings by multiple people, kidnapping, torture, and a near-death experience. Despite everything he endures, the narrative does very little to deliver a satisfying sense of accountability. Literally the word repercussions does not exist.

As for the ending, which is perhaps the most disappointing part of the entire show. The ending was rushed, bland, and thoroughly underwhelming. For a short drama, the series lacks dramatics, in the sense of payback. It had potential, but went absolutely nowhere. If anything, it felt that the priority was making the gay character suffer most. I can’t excuse the short run time for shallow storytelling, as I’ve seen some pretty good short dramas.
