I only brought how many lives XL has up because majority of XL fans think he deserves praise *WHICH HE ABSOLUTELY DESERVES TO BE PRAISED FOR. and that should be the reason why he should end up with XY
However, when it comes to Jing sacrificing his one and only for her in that death maze, all he gets from XL fans is his stupid, he's useless, he could have done better etc...
And yes I have read the novel in it entirety so I know what's is to come.

No one is saying XL is the bad guy . In fact there's zero reason to hate any of the main characters ( XL, XY, TSJ) If one is able to understand their characters you will understand why these characters make the decisions they do.
It's just annoying when most yes most yaoliu fans diminish everything Jing does. For example saying XY is only with Jing because she pities him, or that he barely helped when it comes CX becoming emperor when that's also not case. Praising XL for saving XY with one of his many lives but calling Jing useless when he also sacrificed his one and only life for her...
