Well he aided TSJ brother in killing Jing... More so an attempted killing. His body couldn't be found so everyone presume he was dead. However he got helped by XL and was in a coma for 7yrs. During those 7yrs everyone thought he was dead.

Okay so basically, 15-20 days before XY and Jing's wedding, CX out of jealousy colluded with Jing's older brother to kill him. And when XY found out she wanted to kill him. Obviously she couldn't but she ended up poisoning him and poisoning herself to death since she couldn't live in a world without jing.

Thank you! Finally someone who understands Jing's woes/troubles. So many make it seems like out of the three he's the least without issues when that's totally not the case at all. Realistically speaking other his two servants and xiao yao no one truly love or care about him.
