meatbun's notes keep hinting at it lol but i don't think it will be mentioned in story. he do be giving me bisexual…
I have finished reading the novel and I ship him so badly with Mei but meatbun didn't progressed it and now I am sad!!! I wish there was a side story about Xue Meng
I'm reading the novel and im totally loving it? So she will be playing the role of little sister Gu Miao? Adam…
I am not sure if she will be playing the role of sister or not I am just speculating cause Shen Yue does have the look and size and also the vibe to play the little role but I want an actual child to play the role...
I don't think the author ever mentioned about this so let's not assume anything :)
I was reading the novel and you know at the end of each chapter the author writes funny theater scenarios and in one them the author said that Xue Meng has bottom energy that kind of threw me off guard hehe
I am currently reading the novel the and honestly Wang Anyu as Gui Fei would have been a very wrong choice Zhu Zhi Ling is close to perfect how I got the impression of Gui Fei reading the novel however as a Jiang Cheng Wang Anyu would have been so so perfect. Adam Fan doesn't give me a Jiang Cheng vibe at all...And please don't tell me Shen Yue is going to play the little sister I know that Shen Yue is small and petite but can they please cast an actual 12 or 13-year-old to play the small sister role!!! Finger crossed!
Now lets come to the Main Point, I am actually unhappy that this novel and another novel (Arrogant) from the same writer is getting adapted. Here is the thing with Untamed or Immortality or Guardian or other bl adaptation turning the bl into bromance really didn't have profound changes to the whole plot because the major plotlines of those novels were scheming, politics, mythology, etc romance is the last plotline.
However, Sa Ye aka this one and Arrogant is based on too much in real-life problems that we were, are, and will go through in life. It's a very special and important coming of age story that will give the youth of Chinese and other Asian countries a breathe of hope and courage to accept their sexuality and live in this narrow-minded society. This novel beautifully talks about the realistic problems these two boys deal in this selfish world and how they overcome little by little...
I also loved how sensitively the writer portrayed mental health issues...Mental health plays its role to its true self and that is why this novel is will always remain my one of the most favorite novel. I haven't read much Chinese bl novel but enough to see that none of those books ever directly dealt with mental health.
Also, this novel is not written for fangirling material this is a novel for gay people, and the struggles that LGBTQ people struggles can relate. Fangirling over this novel I personally feel is an insult to such beautiful characters.
Wu Zhe did an amazing job with this book and also with Arrogant and Unbridled (which I am sure will also get an adaptation in the future and I will be unhappy again). I just wish it was Taiwan who adapted Wu Zhe's novels, not China but oh well! But I will be very harassed with this adaptation for sure.
I just can't stop feeling sad and conflicted by the decision to adapt Wu Zhe's novels
