The way I see it, the male lead has communication issues and the female lead has trust issues.
So, was that an open or happy ending? I mean we didn't see him lie unresponsive. He even turned to look at the female lead running towards him & his fingers twiched... 😄 This time, it's the male lead fault for poor communication. On top of that, the female lead keeps suspecting him & provoking him.
I love the flashbacks in ep 24. I guess the purpose of showing those flashbacks to the audience is to let everyone know that Shen Li though born strong, really worked her way up, and was not a slacker...
I always love listening to the soulful bgm played whenever Mofang looks at or thinks of Shen Li through the romantic light of longing & yearning. In those moments, the bgm played seems to condense and convey all of Mofang's feelings for Shen Li to the audience...

Well, he did tell her that her uncle behaved unusually and could've been poisoned. He also asked her to give him three days to investigate.
As for his marriage to that evil female lead, he did try his best to convey the truth to the female lead after her pregnancy that he was just putting on an act all along. This happened in ep 23. She could've just trusted him then, and went along with him. This is my viewpoint anyway because from what I see , from the time he realized he loves her and couldn't let go of her, he has been protecting her all along. And also, the male lead needed time to get the antidote from the vamp before he can spill the truth before the female lead. But he managed to get the antidote to the female lead within a few days. But by that time, the female lead fled leaving behind the divorce note. I wonder why she didn't suspect something when her absolutely normal, loving husband suddenly started behaving like a jerk. That's enough to spark suspicions. What I couldn't understand is why the female lead didn't know how her husband would think just like the way the male lead always knows how his wife would think. Even if she truly believed his lies, at least she could have waited till her pregnancy period was over to confirm her doubts, and clear her head by finding out what exactly is going on. By fleeing after few days, she didn't even give him a chance to communicate with her again...
But yes, as you said, the psychological pain could have been unbearable for a proud woman like her who can't bear to see her husband shared. Maybe it's the psychological pain that made her take hasty decisions to part from her husband. I would say she got tok emotional to think straight...
I'm thoroughly frustrated with the female lead. Even when she was pregnant, she saw how the male lead desperately kept searching for her. She shoud've taken 'that incident' itself as a hint to guess that there must be something amiss . I just wish the female lead trusted the male lead a little bit more. Why make things difficult for the male lead? Why not talk it out with the male lead once more? I just want a happy ending for them.
I just love ep 20. It was so cute to watch --- especially the scene where the baby Koi spirits comb Shen Li's hair and urge her go keep looking at the mirror now and then. Oh so cute! ☺😍🥰😘
As the episodes progress, I'm starting to see some progress in the romance between the main leads. Maybe Shen Li should open up more... Even the ancient god, Xingzhi yearns to open up to her. Listen, Shen Li, Xingzhi is starting to wonder why he's not even caught in the middle! 😅😂 Btw, I was spellbound by the action scenes in episode 21! I loved the fight with the fireballs! Love the special effects! Btw, the YouLan goddess is so cute!
