Pretty much for the money. As for why people watch them? I can only speak for myself. I fully watched the one from 2017, tried to watch the one from 2008,  and it just pushed me away, the same with the one's from the 90s and 80s. And I don't have problem with watching old dramas as the oldest Asian show that I enjoyed was Tokugawa Ieyasu (1983) which looks way better than the tlotch from 2008 and that's 25 years apart. That's the biggest problem with Chinese dramas, too much cheap costumes and sets or cgi which don't age well. Jin Yong created great story, Condor trilogy is pretty much the best wuxia stories(my favorite genre) and from the ones I watched there are not that many on this level with this type of character development. So when I want to rewatch them after a few years, the show start to look cheap, and I don't enjoy it that much. Other than that, I was curious when I learned that they will create spin off to the series with their own story for new main characters from the book which weren't fleshed out in the story.

I waited for it almost ever since it was announced, the trailers looked great, but after watching 3 ep I'm disappointed. It looks like average Chinese B movie, I have seen short format series released on YT with better quality than this and that's not the only problem with this show. I will wait for it to release most ep and check one later in the series. But for now I don't recommend anyone to try it, save your time and if you want to watch this story then go for The Legend of the Condor Heroes from 2017.
