As a matter of fact, I suppose the Chinese translator of Theory of Love ( that Off-Gun series) didn't ask for permission first and just posted it on a mainland Chinese SNS (weibo, i guess people outside from mailand China are not familiar with it, it's like twitter) but later when a Taiwan publishing house signed a contract with the author-assigned Thai publishing house, the former directly reached out for this translator and they achieved a legal contract at last. FYI.

I am afraid that the end is much too unrealistically happy. Some dialogues between Ki Sun Gyeom and Oh Mi Joo are so neat that can hardly be qualified as proper dialogue delivery. Nevertheless, I like the way the playwright interprets love relationships.

Yes, all Wuxia stories unavoidably have common elements due to the setting. After all, if there exist copy problems in this case, it can only be that The Untamed is copying Word of Honor because the novel of the former series was finished after that of the latter. The details of the plot are different. But if someone insists, they can have some general similarity XD (i find this action quite meaningless). Eventually let's enjoy Word of Honor! I haven't watched Chinese drama for one year. WoH does arouse my interest.

I think Simon Gong is one of the most handsome actors in China, who is still waiting for a chance. And I believe that Word of Honor is that chance.
From the scenes and some shooting skills, you can tell that most of the staff used to work for TVB and they have successfully inherited how to produce a Wuxia series and spread the production to the mainland. The Untamed, another production famous for its pilot of bromance and amazing acting scene is also directed by Hong Kong directors.
Of course it is hard to avoid comparing Word of Honor with The Untamed. There are admittedly similarities between these two drama. I think some of the pilots and characters are alike. I don't know if that's a coincidence or what. But if someone wants to accuse Word of Honor of copying... Well, to be honest, the original novel of Tian Ya Ke was completed about 5 years earlier than the novel of Mo Dao Zu Shi. Though some scenes seem quite the same, for example that riverside where Wen Kexing stays up playing the instrument of XIAO for Zhou Zishu looks like the place where Wei Wuxian and his companions are forced by Wen to hunt the turtle-like monster.

I am not familiar with the novel, but I guess the essence of the story is criticism of hypocrisy and how these 2 men save each other.

All in all, if you are interested in BL story, you should give Word of Honor a try. If you want to have a glimpse of the world of Wuxia but missed that golden era of Jin Yong (like me), this show is a good chance for you to start. Enjoy!

I don't know any of the situation in your country / area. Here in China there still exist many problems such as degrading treatment of expectant mothers and discrimination against females at work (very similar to what is shown in this Korean drama, but the only difference is that Chinese-characteristic censorship rarely permits such TV series or movies to be made.)
In a word, I don't consider the social environment is good enough for me to give birth to a child and if I ever did under such a circumstance, I would certainly be labelled irresponsible, both to the baby and to myself. So my option is not to get married nor to have a baby (in China unmarried women are not allowed to be pregnant) and this drama further solidify my determination. I guess this is the reason why I get attracted by this drama at the first sight :D

The employment of Chinese elements startles me. The last Chinese ingenuous depiction of sex and desire exists in A Dream of Red Mansions. I didn't expect to see this desire shown in any Chinese movie or drama "thanks to" the strict censorship. Much appreciation to the staff of this BKPP series for setting the story in the China Town and use related elements in an unexpectedly precise way.

I admit that there are great differences between these two art works. But the discrepancy in background / in characters / in age caps and so on does not hide the fact that there are many similarities. (coconut vs. peach; reconcilation on the beach; hitting on girls when falling for another guy; even the music in EP3 when Teh does not get to share a room with Oh-aew gives me M.A.Y. in the Background vibes)

Since you mention the English name, "I Told Sunset About You", I'd like to share some thoughts. I like this name a lot for its employment of some tactics in traditional Chinese poem. However, from the original Thai name แปล (translate) รัก(love) ฉัน(MY) ด้วย(with) ใจ(heart) เธอ(YOUR) - I get again shocked by how it reminds me of the literal Call ME by YOUR Name. Apparently it's not the same, nah... Maybe it's just a coincidence i guess _(:з」∠)_

I guess Nadao made it TV series instead of movie because movies are much less popular in Thailand than TV series.
But considering how Nadao struggles to cater to Chinese viewers and other international fans, maybe you will have a movie version if you let the company konw the international fans' demand
