Only 24 episodes ? This should have been a 50ep long historical drama . They shouldn't have spilt it in 2 parts…
The original story is 90% modern times, the TV crew didn't change the setting. Instead, they took the small amount of historical parts and increased it to 24 episodes worth of content. If you look at it this way, we're winning!
I don't know if this is the same translation that was on Hui3r.wordpress.com, because the file is corrupted and cannot be read. But if it is, I hope that you will respect the wishes of the translator and take down the link. She explicitly did not want people reading it offsite and eventually quite translating because of it. I know you aren't sharing the novel this way for financial gain, like the re-posters on Amazon and only out of love for the book, but the translation is only available because of the hard work of the translator and it is a little disrespectful to go against her wishes, even if she has retired. People will find a way to read it offline on their own if they want to, but we should encourage respect for the people who provide the content we consume. If this is a completely separate translation, I apologize for my presumption. I tried to open it before commented, but couldn't read it.
Incredibly excited for this! They should be able to faithfully adapt the novel without changing anything, unlike the novelist's other works. Hope they get her onboard as the main scriptwriter.
if this drama is is based on a novel which is indirectly(or somewhat accused of, idk the right word) based on…
The controversy isn't about where this is *technically* plagiarism. It's about whether it *ethically* crosses a line. It is not unusual for writer's to be inspired by events in real life, but when actual events and details are practically copy and pasted, it's not "inspired by", it's almost crossing the line into "based on the true stories of". But because the general plot of the novel is original, the actual story is not "inspired by the life of [person x]", and therefore, legally, the authors does not require permission to write her story. However since the real events, real people, and literal actual games, are ripped from real life, *some* people feels this crosses the lines of what is ethical. Just because the author didn't break the law, doesn't mean she didn't cause harm. Esports is a relatively new industry, the people she stole her story details from are not retired old heroes, but actual active athletes with real lives and careers. *Some* people are boycotting the show because they don't want to support immoral behavior, not because the author is an actual criminal.
I'm sad that people are making up bad rumors about the cast just because of this, and I hope they get sued and have their comments deleted. The cast for this drama is really lovely and talented and they don't deserve that. That being said, saying that the author did nothing wrong is also misleading. She simply didn't break any laws. And fans watching their esports idols' lives and careers being taken advantage of for financial gain just because they aren't protected by copyright law, have every right to be upset. As long they don't targets innocent people, that is.
That being said, I *personally* don't think it's bad for people to watch, enjoy, and love this drama anyway. Some people will be fans of the actors, directors, etc. Some people will want to see it for the cute fluffy romance and others will want to see it for the competitions and sports plotline. People who want to watch, should watch and enjoy. People who don't want to support the author, enjoy the many other dramas coming out this year. No need to make a mess of it.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this half at least!
