In my opinion, obviously he did bad shit but he wasn't either fully good or fully bad, shown by the way they started…
I totally agree that it's the the worst thing anyone could ever do. But in my opinion no human being is black or white. In the final episode if he was fully bad, he wouldn't let the now grown up baby he tried to kill, live.

how was the king a good person, did u not see all the bad shit he did wtf?
In my opinion, obviously he did bad shit but he wasn't either fully good or fully bad, shown by the way they started liking him when they still didn't know he was king, the way he listened to the advice abt sleeping with loved ones (the queen) and the fact that even though he didn't believe that the prince did really kill nokdu in the end he feigned to believe it and ,in a way, let him live even though he "betrayed" him. I've seen more evil villains get a redemption arc lol

I agree with you about the point went into an isolated Island is not exactly a happy ending. Did they forget how…
Omg yeah I didn't even remember the mother stuff, how on earth is that living "happily ever after" they should've addressed their concern about going back to that miserable life with seriousness or if it's too much too ask lol at least with one line or something, not with a silly half episode

Maybe if he didn't "betray him back" and instead shown more heart the king couldve not wanted to kill him when he found out it was him. But anyways, it's nice to hear different opinions let's agree to disagree lol

It was mentioned in a footnote that yamul is based on the king in real life and he becomes the king of Korea.…
The king did bad things but I think that it could've been handled better by Nokdu, he didn't need to become just another person that betrayed him. I know that the prince is based in real life but the rest isn't so...
If they wanted for it to be an unhappy ending I would understand what I don't understand is why the series kinda made it seem happy with the last half of the ep with the comedy vibe and by writing "and they lived happily ever after" it seemed to me to be unrealistic for all of them to be so carefree in that island.
