90% of "historical" dramas are not really historical dramas. Many of those wuxia and xianxia dramas aren't even placed on Earth. And Joy of Life could even be considered sci-fi series, because it happens in the future where just history of human civilization repeats itself.

There is also another problem. Novel decribes political upheaval, rebellion in north-western provinces and mentions usurping power from rightful ruler. Also war with the West. So many landmines...

For me it is the same universe, but WoH is like ancient times and SPL is more like present times. They have ziliujin and mechanical birds, but in SPL technology is more advanced. And this trope about young hero who needs to abandon their happy youth is quite common in many danmei.

Yes the novel, Sha Po Lang, is probably one of the best on internet. Winner is King in May and Immortality in autumn/winter would be great.

I disagree. Love Actually is bad. Is awful. Production, storyline and character development is probably the worst in cdrama history. Without Wang Yibo and Joe Chen it would be unwatchable.

The real Li Bi was fantastic and complicated character. Why there is no TV series about his life? He lived in very interesting and brutal times so there is material for minimum 70 episodes :D
