I wouldn't say so, probably after the success with The Untamed, Tencent wanted their initial rights back for this drama, as Xiao Zhan is red-hot actor of the moment in China and they might want to be the broadcaster as advertised on the trailers. It is still speculated to be aired in 2019, even Douban has it still listed for 2019 and DataWin charting site has it on top 3-4 most anticipated dramas of 2019 every single week.
Iqiyi has posted their entire broadcast schedule for 2019 Q4 and 2020 all quarters and The Wolf is nowhere on their schedule. So most probably the drama airing rights are back to Tencent TV.
Is not that "new"... I had VIP membership on iQiyi app since May, have been enjoying dramas with subs for 4€/month ever since. The same goes for WeTV and Mango TV.
The official Weibo page of the drama has released a short clip teaser of Doctor Gu Wei, as celebration for Xiao Zhan's 28th birthday. He looks yummy! Can't wait for this to be released. https://www.weibo.com/tv/v/Ia3G3kMMy?fid=1034:4423794740423616
Also leaked pictures from a wedding between Xiao Zhan and Li Qin from the drama has been posted on Weibo. Happy…
Well Xiao Zhan is listed as main role in this drama, so lets hope both male leads will be somehow in par with the screen time so we don't have to "hate" any of them. I read somewhere (don't remember now where tho) that the producers asked to re-shoot some of the scenes now that Zhan-ge has so much popularity and he has gained so much more experience in acting, seen that this was wrapped-up in 2016 or something and was suppose to broadcast in spring/summer of 2017. Hopefully this drama will live up to the high expectations and give us another "Untamed" withdrawal syndrome. ^^
Oh wow... could that be a good sign? But what prompt the people to suddenly be talking about this drama though?
I don't know when the ban started and have no clue when will actually end but I see many dramas scheduled to premier on october and november, some of them being period/costume so I have no idea how come those actually got to get air time.
Oh wow... could that be a good sign? But what prompt the people to suddenly be talking about this drama though?
There is no clear reason of why the drama skyrocketed on top of the searches so suddenly, nor why the flood of the fans on the show's weibo page with spoilers, cuts, questions, etc... I tried to get to the main reason without finding the clue, but there are a lot of people asking the same things as me without getting an answer. But might be the fact that the ban for period/costume dramas has ended, might be the reason that the popularity of Xiao Zhan has exploded to unimaginable heights (reason for which he is in top 5 power ranking with 3 dramas on the most anticipated for the next period if you check the list), sure is the producers might want to milk this opportunity while he is the hottest actor in China of the moment and air the dramas that were in hold till now.
In the past 2 days the drama The Majesty of Wolf has jumped on top of most searched TV Shows on Weibo, ranking 1st on the DataWin power ranking as the most anticipated drama of the year on the last couple of days. This led to a massive flooding of people invading the official page of the show, asking if there is a date of release, and why the unusual skyrocketing of the drama so suddenly. Everyone on weibo is in a craze atm, waiting for the official announcement. As the national day celebration has ended, a date has been speculated for 22 November. Let's wait and see. :) https://wx3.sinaimg.cn/mw1024/41d1108dly1g7lv7zpoo2j211c2uq19r.jpg
They haltered due to several issues/bans, restarted and stopped again. The list of banned stuff in China is huge, if a production team doesn't pay careful attention to everything, they might need to restart from scratch, (costumes for example) if that is not in line with the rules. So the announcement of being again in post production might not be just a case. Anyway, soon is gonna be over the ban for the historical/period dramas, as the 70 yrs celebration is gonna come to an end, so we will see if the announcement of the airing date is this year or not. Just let's cross fingers lol.
Well, this is because of the huge popularity Xiao Zhan has gained after The Untamed. It has nothing to do with…
I don't know if what are you saying is really true. Xiao Zhan has been struggling with sasaengs, there are videos with him without bodyguards where he effectively had to dash away to avoid the crazy fans, he even got caught once in the hotel's rotating door and people got hurt because of the crowd pushing, because there was nobody to protect him. Now there are also videos since his increased popularity, showing him protected by an entire squad of bodyguards, even with shields to cover him entirely. So yeah, is not a fan invented story this one about the protection. And you can also see that his agency took a step forward regarding his working projects, now he is literally flooded with work, he can't take a break to sleep. He is filming several dramas at once and several commercials for several brands has been published on the last couple of days. NOW they are milking him, not before. All of this because of The Untamed.
Its just a rumour...reba took another modern drama with huang jingyu and they just started filming recently...while…
Xiao Zhan is filming three projects at the moment, Oath of Love, Douluo Continent and a TV Show, while he filmed several commercials one of which took a lot of time - for Harper's Bazaar Special in Arabia. So don't count him out.

I recommend you to watch The Untamed, you will understand why people feels he should be the main lead, even tho Darren is such a sweetheart. Read the comments under the drama, you will get it. :)
I am really excited for this drama for so long and the wait is still going on. One thing I am not liking is that…
Well, this is because of the huge popularity Xiao Zhan has gained after The Untamed. It has nothing to do with his looks, is all about his amazing talent on acting. It happened already that a drama failed to deliver due to the fact that Xiao Zhan was cast as second lead (in Oh! My Emperor) where everyone was disappointed that he wasn't the main lead in either of the seasons of the drama. This was Xiao Zhan's agency's fault, i will link you a video for more info about this issue. People is afraid this might happen again with The Wolf and the drama will feel the draw back due to the huge popularity Xiao Zhan has now and him being second lead again. Nobody is contesting Darren Wang. He is handsome and a good actor, probably very fit for his role. It is just unfortunate the drama was not broadcast before The Untamed. Don't hate on Xiao Zhan, is not his fault, he worked hard and he still working hard to gain the recognition and the popularity he has now. Below is the link with info how mistreated was Xiao Zhan by his own agency. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTp5Bh0eGtA
