ML hadn't started making plans for JN yet.. until his father did. From my prospective, JN was one of the reasons why he was hesitant to take the throne. If he didn't take the throne, it would have been easy for him to marry JN since the King will no longer care about him.. but the moment he did.. his father set him out to prove himself... He gave the ML an upstart he needs.. He had set the game for ML. However he is slowly diverging from his father's plan.. he is becoming a player rather than a pawn. It's a good start. However i would say he is still nowhere close to his father level of thinking.
His father was able to plan his path months ahead.. even the girl who tried to assainate him twice seems like his father's plan. And if you think about it XFN was just one side of his father's plan. He also had to plan for the king, the opposition, his step son's.

XFN chose Wudi city to retrieve the swords. He wasn't even aware of God of swords when he did that. I never said ML is bad. I agree that ML is good but he has done nothing so far which can say that he has surpassed the skill of his father. The conversation between the teacher and his father was that he was no longer a chess piece of their game. He became a player of his own. Because everything ML has done so far was according to their plan. They weren't discussing about Wuji city. They were discussing about his plans about FL. They hadn't expected the rumours to be spread about FL. When he did that, he started his first game which he is gonna play with his own wits.

Nope. XFN wasn't even aware that his father is going to reveal the identity of the FL. He hadn't even started to think on how to marry FL. It was his father who knew what his son wants. He sent XFN on the 3 year journey to avoid his marriage with Princess. Then he revealed the identity of the FL so that they can have a shot at marriage in the future.
XFN has the potential. As i said..he is taking baby steps at the moment. Everything he did was within the releam of possibilities of his father except his father didn't expect him to spread rumours about FL's travel. This is where he started his first grand strategy. Which means .. this is where he started to mature. The teacher and father is both proud and worried but this is what the heir of throne is expected to do.
Or the old man might just push XFN towards a death trial. Thinking like.....Let him survive it first...only then…
I think she is gonna train under the Mr.Chessman of her country. So far she never had anything to fight for...now it's changed... She has people following her... So she will choose to train and no one is better than that guy..

XFN is good but he is short sighted. He knew that he was going to visit his sister. He also knew that her in-laws hate FL. Yet he never saw through his father's plan.. He might claim that he would keep FL by his side..but it was his father who put things into motion ... 3 years ago by avoiding his marriage with royal princess since he knew that his son loved someone else.
Also at the start of the journey, he told his father that he would bring back his siblings.. you remember what his father's reply was.. in the end.. ML made same choices.
His father had no access to his spies for few months ever since he entered into capital. If he did, he would have already figured out what he plans to do.. if you think about it.. his father already had planned his journey till his split with the FL. He had predicted his son's action till that point...our ML is no where close to that skill.. let alone surpass his father. The only action his father didn't expect was .. him spreading rumour about FL. We are yet to see what his plans are regarding that . But we will need to wait for season 2 for that
Also, none of the companions are loyal to him.. they are all loyal to his father. The girl in the mountains was the first ally he actually earned himself. That's why he was able to act without his father's knowledge
I think White Fox won't be used in the Season 1... They will bring her out in next season.. There is a major history…
White fox is the girl he met in the very beginning of the show. The one who lent him the two swords. I haven't read the book but it's obvious that white fox won't take action in this season since she never joined ML on the journey.
