What a drama 🤯I was wondering why I was getting this "when the weather is fine" feeling from this drama, until…
I didn't watched. Everything's screaming at me: Ultra-slow depressive contemplative boring drama. 😆 People spending time at windows looking sadly outside, rain or snow falling. I could reconsider now. But my watching-list is already insane with tons of priorities.
Hey, while I dislike slow dramas, I watched Lies Hidden in My Garden, and it's previous drama from directors of Hyeri. Indeed, it was well done, but really slow. I was just in a good day, didn't watched dramas since a while, and with my favorite actress. Then, except a few ones, scenes wasn't useless, but some so stretched. Gosh! I was on IV thanks to tension and mysteries. Also a difficult psychological context for the FL.
I watch few dramas on-air when I could just binge watch, but it's nice for interacting with people in comments. Also, I think Dear Hyeri is better to watch on-air because there are too much hidden things and deep content. I would be sure to miss half of it during a binge-watch.
00:45 - Eun Ho in a restaurant. At night.Thinking of her missing sister.‘Do you know how those who are left…
This kind of drama needs that. Many details making sens, easy to miss. I do that often, but not all the episodes. Dramas like Castaway Diva with fine writing. I think on Dear Hyeri the writing is both great and flawed, but maybe it's better than a drama just good all the way?
I can make sens of the Addendum, but not the title yet.
Episode starts with Hyeri saying she's more happy than EunHo, that she should take this body for that reason, that EunHo sad life isn't worth living. The therapist says Hyeri she won't disappear but merge with EunHo, but Hyeri refuses. Therapist is quite annoyed because it doesn't take the way for healing.
Later Hyeri is more kind and just ask EunHo to let her live for the happiness she have. But I still got a sens of danger: that Hyeri personnality could predominate to the point Eun Ho disappear. And the key for Eun Ho to survive then is to find happiness.
When they travel in car to the forest, I noticed EunHo had reactions typical of Hyeri, a bit cringe. What's a warning Hyeri invades her mind space.
We can maybe find some kind of initiatic journey when she goes in the forest, very mystical, ending like she dies. Then the crisis on TV set, that's a suffering but also a way to shake her mind, to make her react instead of the living-death of everyday. Those dramatic scenes made me think Eun Ho was at risk, it's why she reacted so violently as survival reflex.
Then comes final scene when she can find some happiness, what should re-balance the split personnality.
As we don't know if Hyeri is dead or alive, she would be alive. She's now Hye Yeon, but lost her memory after she…
Looks like this theory can't happen too. But I still have a last little doubt. When the TV show tells the story of the two sisters, it's the older one who disappears. Could be foreshadowing, but I took rather that in a way Eun Ho story couldn't be 100% the same than the one on TV. There is not only the relationship problem, but also in the flashback with Hyeri and EunHo. We even see Eunho older, when she insists Hyeri have to go to the student camp.
King of boredom, bad expo, purposeless long scenes, bulky verbiage, and tell-don't-show. Complete that with 10 resto scenes per episode and its 5 min sleepy scene of band playing a song. No plot, because it's slice-of-life. But a quite bad one for that genre.
Jang Gyeo Wool aka Maggot girl is the flawed character able to turns some scenes funny, thanks to her irresponsability, brazenness and indelicacy, saving this terrible drama from total shipwreck.
People finds that ok because hospital is realistic. And it's comforting. Ok, then. As a realistic situation, I find that less boring to watch people at my train station. And I still wonder if it's realistic to get a hospital where every girl has a crutch with a professor.
Oh, I was about to forget: writer is unfair and plays the shipping game with audience. No shame about triggering fan wars. And of course, writer offers the unexpected final romance that doesn't make sens, as most of clues were pointing elsewhere. (rest in spoiler zone)
Now the sad new: I added 0.5 points to my rating, because I watched a worst drama than this one. What makes Hospital Playlist loose the coveted award of the best worst drama.
I would say this drama should be considered as a masterpiece. I never seen a drama like this. Also had a great…
It's on top of the upper basket. In the same genre, the only drama I prefer is W, from the same writer. About background music, both dramas have the same team of musician.
As we don't know if Hyeri is dead or alive, she would be alive. She's now Hye Yeon, but lost her memory after she…
There are high chances this theory won't happen. - It also need it's not a substitution plan for Eun Ho healing. So if it happens, it has to be after. Same about Ju Yun healing. - As someone said, it's kinda makjang for a drama like this one. It would be a difficult challenge for the writer to do that right.
This is the first time in a drama that I'm not mad that a 2ML has more screen time than the ML. I've never even…
I found that kiss misplaced too, not the kind of thing to do after someone had a panic attack. So I rewatched last part of episode 4: forest, TV set, elevator. First because scenes are great, but give also lot of information.
Then the whole elevator situation makes sens. She indeed call for the kiss, not saying it loud, but they know each other very well, don't forget that. It's also prepared by a Hyery voice-over just before, about to find happiness and touch it. Eventually, she's the one taking his hand and preventing him to leave the elevator. He checks what she want after, asking her to look at him, long eyes contact, "speaking" with the eyes.
As a nice metaphor I should add to my notes: they were first floor and he clicks 10th floor, kind of elevator going up to heaven.
I want to watch this drama for Shin Hye Sun. I LOVE her. Her acting is next level. But I have zero interest in…
Worth it. Just know that episode 1 is rather meh, but give information you need later. Episode 2 makes it! And later we get scenes to cut our breath. Kind of great scenes I rarely see in dramas, with an awesome work from the director, writer, actors.
A friend posted me a interesting theory. In SPOILER below:
As we don't know if Hyeri is dead or alive, she would be alive. She's now Hye Yeon, but lost her memory after she had disappear.
If find this theory interesting because: - I was sure it would be a conflict between Hyeri and Hye Yeon, because they want the same man Ju Yun. But we could see in the scene there was a feeling of sisterhood between them. - It's also a nice ending, because many people of the audience would like Ju Yun have a happy ending with Hyeri. Only, it will be with the real one, aka Hye Yeon.
EPISODE 06 - p11 I'm too much out of time to take many notes. But I have to write this one: 14:40, flashback, once again YJ is so harsh with WS when he offers her a gift. She just say she want to breaks up. Now, he can't stand it anymore and leave. And NOW! Magic! She's sincere, like the first time and breakdown into tears. Seems she regrets hard what she just said. But he sees her crying and understands he should not ask her anymore anything about her past. It's the essential questions we are asking ourselves since the start of the drama: What about the authenticity of their love story? Everything seems a bit fake until now and we don't understand why they are a couple. This scene brings a lot about that.
23:00 - So funny! WS is collapsing and about to reveal everything to his wife, after she said in resume: "today I can accept anything, speaks". He's about to reveal love affair : "I saw someone" ... BUT !!..... She thinks he saw a politician.... How this plot comes back at the right point to save WS. lolololololol!!!
- p12 Even if I'd prefer avoid to comment because lack of time... this one is too good: 04:00, WS about the pen, why he found it. Lying and saying to his wife a "catch figher found it". Then... "Heeyy... as you offered it to me, how could I loose it? When I die I will bring it in my grave." On that, YJ makes a tons of lovely aegyo, in love with him and his line.. tahahhhaha!!! Then, she want a sex scene right away (to make a baby, their last project). Her: "it won't be long". Dudes, when a lady says you that, it's the one. lol!!!
I like Hye-Ri's personality but when I saw the scene where she wanted her sister's body for her own happiness,…
Yes, but it's still Eun Ho. So, it's like Eun Ho want to suicide herself because she's not happy, so only the part of herself she put in Hyeri will continue to live happy.
The Hyeri depiction is very tricky. She has to portray a personality that is modelled after her younger sister,…
To be fair, first episode was a bit woobly about tone, and EunHo and Hyeri are introduced with a bit of comedy. I think it was more that than weak acting.
Hyeri was dependent on Eunho and Eunho is kind of dependent on Hyunoh. Both Eunho and Hyeri do not have a father…
A lot of this makes sens. I still ask myself if Eun Ho sends Hyeri to the therapist, or if the therapist prefers to deal with Hyeri because it's a better strategy to heal EunHo.
But when you are used to watch movies, old classics, it pass easely and nicely.
Ultra-slow depressive contemplative boring drama. 😆

Addendum: I've never seen happiness, but maybe.
I can make sens of the Addendum, but not the title yet.

Now the sad new:
I added 0.5 points to my rating, because I watched a worst drama than this one.
What makes Hospital Playlist loose the coveted award of the best worst drama.
4 first hours are still enjoyable to watch because we get:
- A high-concept with mysteries.
- Comedy and parody of romance dramas.
Then, it's a long travel to sleepness:
- The high-concept stagnates and hardly produce any new surprise.
- What was parody becomes the real story, like a cliché machine.
- Slow scenes without lot of emotion or purpose, ultra-repeatitives.
In the end some mysteries don't have a answer.
Maybe you can find in it a kind of depressive philosophical essay.
In the same genre, the only drama I prefer is W, from the same writer.
