It really isn't fluff. It is character building. Without overcoming adversity, Mudan and Chang Yang would be very different characters. This team has really built the world in which this story unfolds very well. It is similar to The Story of Minglan. While it takes a while for the leads to fall in love, It is worth the wait. We truly get to see the evolution of their love and friendship be built brick by brick. It will make the ending that much more satisfying. I usually do not like slow burn romances but this one is different. There are other parts of the story and fully fleshed out characters that keep it interesting. The next season will up the stakes with the male lead going into battle. I look forward to seeing their story unfolds.

I think he started falling for her from the day they met in the temple. At first I think he was intrigued by her. Then when he got to know her, he was a goner. Remember how he described his perfect woman to prince Ning? He described Mudan to a T. Every trick he pulls on her is an attempt to keep her close to him. I think he is just taking his time because he knows she has trauma to work through. He doesn't want to be too pushy. When he thought he found Mudan's body, it really shook him. He finally realized he needs to make his feelings known. I think he will open up more in the next few episodes. I think that is when the wedding will happen. Mudan has also been falling for him, though not from the beginning like him. The way she looked at him at the prison, you just know her heart opened for him.

I have been a fan since his first drama. He deserves more starring roles. He balances drama, romance and humor so well. I would really like to see him in another role with this lead actress again. Their chemistry was so natural and gave me all the romantic feels.

There are several weekly dramas like The Second Husband and The Bride's revenge. These dramas are really long and more like American soap operas. Mask is a good revenge drama. Look up dramas starring Lee Yoo Ri, she is the queen of revenge dramas. Her drama Hide and Seek is interesting twist on the revenge drama. It is from the opposite point of view from the usual revenge drama. The Double is a top tier Chinese revenge drama. It is probably one of the best dramas ever made.

He usually plays the same character over and over again. An OCD, uptight, educated,low EQ rich boy. This role shows his range a bit. I hate the character so much. So that must mean he is doing a good job lol

If you watch the intro sequence it shows the story basically. Kind of like the Story of Minglan. At the end of the sequence it shows animated versions of them with their kids.

I think everything he is doing is so he can be close to her and eventually win her over. When he described his perfect woman to Ning, he described her to a T. He is cunning and calculating. He knows she just went through a lot of trauma with her marriage. He doesn't want to go after her overtly and scare her. I think he will eventually use his sneaky tactics to get her to marry him. However, I think he genuinely likes her. I think he has liked her since the beginning when he saw hour clever she was. Plus she loves wealth and the pleasures of life as much as he does

Currently watching Go Go Squid again while I wait for episodes of FP to post. Ugh! This drama is so good. I knew I should have waited for all of the episodes to be released.
