It’s weird that you say this. I thought tharntype’s chemistry was more forced and sexual (And truly unrealistic).…
What I think most people are talking about is good old fashioned sexual tension. Which usually manifests early on in a relationship because one thing or another keeps them from being together so when they do, boom! (I.e. Kiss Me Again PeteKao) THIS is very hard to do in an established couple, mainly because they ARE together ALL the time and have been for a while. I think though, what you may be talking about is a kind of yearning between the couple, a “want to be with you so bad that it’s palpable”. Now I get why people like this. Twilight is filled with this. It’s romantic and all that sweetness. But some people, like me, do not wear their emotions on their sleeves. And really, I find sappy confessions and tearful love annoying and unrealistic (which is why I could NOT get through Theory of Love. Why was there crying every 5 minutes!) Again, personal experience, a lot of time people can’t tell I’m dating the person I am, because we don’t do much PDA even when we’re alone. Our flirting is much more verbal, much like Kao and Pete, where we basically talk shit to each other. That’s us. And look, this does not mean that your opinion is not valid. To each his own on what you think is good chemistry. What I thought, though, as I watched PeteKao was, “hey! An ACTUAL relationship is being represented.” But again, this is my opinion so...
I’m on episode two.....it’s seems okay as of now.....but after watching Tharn type....I feel Pete and Kao…
It’s weird that you say this. I thought tharntype’s chemistry was more forced and sexual (And truly unrealistic). PeteKao’s chemistry comes off as natural like real life and not smarmy and unrealistic like a soft core porno. I guess my own relationship experience colors my view point since I’m not one for PDA and overly romantic gestures. To each his own on what exactly good chemistry is.
I know. This is long. Ignore if you wish. I’m kinda getting tired of the PeteKao hate. The BL scene is strange (and yet typical) in its want for fantasy and fluff (and sex!). SunMork is the beginning of a relationship; where PeteKao was in Kiss Me Again. I think Dark Blue Kiss is pretty genius in contrasting the two couples. People are all “how could they let some ‘boy’ destroy their relationship” as if a relationship is sooooo easy after you admit you love the person. That’s hilarious because the littlest thing can set the trouble off in some real relationships (hell BOREDOME can) especially when there are situations such as Pete and Kao are in. First you have Kao who’s priority is his family and he’s trying to be a good son/brother, which puts Pete second in his decision making. Then you have Pete whose confidence level isn’t where he wants it because of his uncertainty of his own future. The only thing he IS sure of is his love for Kao and the trust he puts in him even though Kao hasn’t allowed their status to be public (why? Well because of Kao’s idea of what the good son is supposed to be). In walks Non. He’s young, but he’s got confidence and popularity and an attitude that sets Pete on edge. Not only does he get to hang out with his boyfriend in an official capacity, but he can’t really do anything about it other than immature annoying things. Really, if some young hot chick/dude whom you despised came up and started hanging around and flirting with your man whom you have no real “claim” on, I’m sure you’d be a little bothered. When Pete selfishly asks his boyfriend to STOP hanging around Non, Kao agrees and PROMISES he will. But because his priority is his family he makes the decision to go ahead and do it anyway and then lies about it. Now why did he lie? You can say he’s avoiding conflict OR you can say because it’s just easier. We’ve all made stupid decisions because it’s easier. Now here is where it escalates: Pete finds out Kao lied and RIGHT after he had a real boost to his ego. The drop I’m sure was haaaard. Now some say it shouldn’t have been a big deal. True. Logically. But I think for Pete it was kinda big especially when you take his ego/self-esteem into account. He has kind of a co-dependent relationship with Kao. He follows him whenever he goes somewhere (example June’s “why are you leaving, do you have the same mother?”). He trusts Kao more than anyone and kind of holds him up on a pedestal. And truly even if the friends knew about the relationship I don’t think it would’ve helped the situation. Pete needs to be who he is without Kao’s influence. And Kao needs to stop trying to please everyone. We like to say we would make the right decisions when it comes to relationships, but usually when emotions are involved we don’t because really there are no “right” decisions in this scenario, just decisions with consequences. What it comes down to is whether they are willing to work for their relationship. And that’s really what it is: a decision on whether or not you want to work at the relationship. Love does not save the day. Sun and Mork will have issues down the line and may even break up then get back together, who knows? But the ambiguity of this series is what I love. A good amount of fluff, drama and realism. Melodrama at it’s best. I love PeteKao’s relationship/dynamic, it carries the show for me, since I’m not really into romances. I think the choice of Non as “the problem” was perfect. The writers didn’t really want a real contender for Kao’s affections, they just wanted a tipping point for all the other issues to come to a head. Kao’s choice to avoid and Pete’s choice to not listen (two things we ALL do) are the true problems in this situation. Hopefully ones PeteKao can overcome. I have nothing to say about SunMork. It’s the same thing I see in all the other romance stories. It’s great and they have good chemistry and I enjoy watching them. But my Realist’s heart is LIVING for PeteKao. Thank you, and I’m done proselytizing.
