I totally agree with you. I loved the drama but the ending was just not it. Many questions were left unanswered,…
I parafrase Lishi now. "From my point of view, actually the writer left some hints. - The reason why Heesoo takes more time to meet Yi In. - The question Heesoo asked to Yi In "Why Your Highness still being alone?" I mean Yi In desperately wants to keep Heesoo by his side as an official wife but he knows more than anyone else that Heesoo is free spirit but in another side he keeps the Queen position empty (that's what I get from Heesoo's question as mention above)" It is obvious they will be together.
A solid drama that I enjoyed far more than the synopses suggested. Though I have to admit I struggled with the…
In my opinion he had no choice that was the tradeoff he needed to make to become king and protect himself. That's why he tried to save her secretly, but then she had already 'vanished' and he thought she had died
Jin Han/Lee In is the star of this show!!!!! What a character! He’s been consistent and steadfast in who he…
Kim Dong Bae kept insisting he was a spy and would have done everything in his power to make sure that he wouldn't become King. Maybe even try to insist he was a spy. As minister of war he had an army at his disposal. Killing him made the ascension to the throne easier since all other opponents would be to scared to do anything.
Granted, there are very few romantic and love scenes. But his attitude shows that he loves FL, just the lack of…
Deed of love scenes would take away scenes from royal court plots. In kdrama you are lucky if you see one love deed and for me if it is implied in a satisfactory way I am satisfied. 😁
I don't mind sad ending as long as the story/characterization makes sense. Plus I find that sad ending leaves…
@zerooldman I see that you already got a lot of titles from others. But if you want a bit of romance, where they make fun of romantic drama's you should watch Lost Romance. It is taiwanese. I am from europe and I understand what you mean with funny doesn't translate well. Lost romance is universal fun and they use their own voices which makes it nicer to listen to then the dubbed voices of Chinese drama's.
Technically, he wasn't strictly in line for the throne, though the whole mess with his son not officially being…
I think he took the throne to survive first and at the same get rid of the enemies. If he had said that the CP is meant to sit on the throne, than he would have lost his life. Once he was on the throne and discovered how bad/selfish the ministers were, he tried to make a plan, behind the scenes to change things. But it was difficult since his uncle, the father of the Queen and the minister of war colluded against him. They had most of the other ministers in their pocket. For example the prince who was his opponent baduk player was murdered before the fl came to the palace. He knew his uncle was behind the assassination and warned him. That is why he decided to recruit a player from outside the palace. The fl lead started to change things and because of her actions the plans he had could take place. He told her in episode 14 that he 'used' her to get the prince in the role of CP by hiding behind her and let the change take place. So he wouldn't be suspected by his uncle. Now he got to get rid of his uncle because he is dangerous and the prince, even if he is CP isn't safe.
Long story but yes he did usurpe the throne. And of course the fl is right. He isn't doing a bad thing the CP is too young. Personally I think he should stay longer on the throne for his nephew's stake. Why the hurry? Because of the number of episodes?
You have everything: from enemy to lover, from hatred to love, conspiracy, spies, secrets, intrigues, unknowns,…
@akepka I started with Marry my husband, Knight Flower and Captivating the King all three ongoing. I couldn't handle 3 ongoing and dropped Knight Flower. But even though I kept watching and even finished Marry my husband I lost interest because I got completely 'captivated' by Captivating the King. ;-)
Did I see correctly in the preview that Kim Myung-Ha wants to help PJH, the General Director?I don't trust Kim…
@Dedra70 Really? Pregnant? How will they deal with that in the storyline. It will get complicated. Wait.... maybe that would be a solution, since in those olden days you couldn't kill a woman when she was pregnant (at least in old china). She had to give birth first. And if she was pregnant with the King's child it wasn't possible at all. Especially since this King doesn't have children of his own. Then her "treason" of masquerading as a man will be overlooked.

@Dedra70 I thought he kept her around because she lied for him. He owes her. She said that the old King's last words were for Li to ascend the throne, which wasn't true. He said that his son should ascend and Li had to protect him. Of course in the situation Li found himself the only way was to lie and take the throne, but still... without her help he couldn't have done it.
