No, it's just different directors (4 new and two returning). The leading director/executive producer from GFN…
Yea it's easy to get mistaken too because both entities share the "GMM" 😅

And actually teen-oriented channel GMM25 was the first channel that had broadcasted Girl From Nowhere Season 1, meanwhile Season 2 did not air on TV at all, only premiered on Netflix together with Season 1.

For this reset version, it's being aired simultaneously on both One31 channel and Netflix. The move to the mainstream/major TV channel One31 indicates that GMM really value Girl From Nowhere as an IP and they believe GFN can appeal to mass audience.

Yeaaaaa. I saw this comment on Reddit that was really interesting and rationalised the decision to reset the show well https://www.reddit.com/r/GirlFromNowhere/comments/1qckhxj/comment/nzkl0sx/

"I’m pretty sure the writers, wrote themselves into a corner with the ending of season 2. It’s a long explanation but please read it…

We know that the most obvious answer is because actresses grew up and the renewal took ages this they can’t continue with the storyline but apart from the obvious my theory is the next…

Anthology shows like GFN only have two routes to go; continue new seasons with no continuity and just crazy stories with the risk of it becoming boring and losing shock value or add lore to the new seasons to quasi-explain (but never really fully explaining anything) the origin of the phenomena (in this case Nanno) to continue with audience engagement.

I have seen this happened before with Jigoku Shoujo, the third season added this new character Yukie which was supposed to be the replacement for the main character, it spent so much time with this character for the storyline to go nowhere and then the fourth season added ANOTHER replacement.

The problem with this type of arcs is that they take screen time, so either you tell more of the main plot or you focus on your individual cases. In the case of Jigoku it started to lose focus sometimes they progressed the main plot at a snails pace taking screen time from good cases making them mid as bes because the story had potential but could be told fully.

GFW had the same problem at the end of season 2 the lore an main plot became so convoluted that the only possible solution for giving it a satisfying conclusion was to solve it as a serialized show, everything would have to be in order to be sequenced and for the storylines we are used to this would be limiting; GFN is used to chaotic endings and the fact that they would have to end every single episode in a cliffhanger and connect the main plot to this while also having a new school every single episode was just limiting creatively.

I’m sure writers agreed and that’s why a full reset was decided for the new season, while they could contact the actresses and probably with the new nanno try to somewhat tie this loose ends it’s much better to do what GFN does best and just return to anthology episodes which at first we as fans might complain but still enjoy rather than attempt to answer a question left almost 5 years ago unsatisfactorily and we as fans would complain that we didn’t like the answers after reading theories for 5 years and the episodes were underdeveloped because they had to take time out of this stories to answer the main plot.

The last point is after all this time the target audience has grown so they have to try to preserve old fans but also open to a new generation, if they continued old plot lines it would be a continuity lockout for new audiences and I’m sure they want this reboot to have more seasons."

GMM has not backed out. They are still in control and that's why it's being aired on its biggest channel One31. GMM Grammy is this big conglomerate, often confused with GMMTV (GMM Grammy's production house for its teen-oriented TV channel GMM25) You can read more about GMM Grammy here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMM_Grammy

I don't think there will ever be a S3 of the original series as GFN: Reset seems to be their answer to keep GFN an anthology series with a new Nanno, every season. Vogue Thailand posted this and hinted at the next Nanno to be Japanese https://x.com/VogueThailand/status/2011635099855704403
On Girl from Nowhere the Reset Jan 15, 2026
#VogueExclusive reveals some exclusive images from the series ‘Girl from Nowhere the Reset’.

Introducing the new Nanno in the new universe, ‘Girl from Nowhere the Reset’, played by Becky Armstrong.
@AngelssBecky
She takes on a challenging role as a new Nanno in a separate universe, with a complete reset of the story. This was intentional by the creators, as Nanno is a special character with an unknown origin; she can change her avatar. This season focuses on Nanno's new avatar, which will be more mischievous, disruptive, and sexier, but still retains the original spirit of being a "new kid," leading viewers to discover injustice, scandal, and questionable issues in each school.

Girl from Nowhere the Reset consists of 6 episodes, each exploring a different scandalous theme. It's produced by the new studio "GingerX" under "The One Enterprises" in collaboration with the creators of the original Nanno series, known for their spicy and engaging productions since the first season. Guaranteed fun by 6 talented directors, including two directors from the first and second seasons: Dome Sittisiri Mongkolsiri (The First Light of the Firefly, Hunger) and Pairat Kumwan (Doctor Climax). They are joined by O Pattha Thongpan (Enigma), Karn Siwaroj Kongsakul (Suebsandan), Ekkasit Thairat (Angkarn Klumpong, Halabala), and Wasuthep Ketpetch (Ther for Cash).

Prepare to witness Becky's talent before judging her every Saturday at 8:30 PM, starting March 7, 2026, on Channel One 31. The Uncut version is also available online on the oneD app.

Furthermore, the Nanno universe won't stop here. In the future, a Japanese Nanno will join to open up new universes. Stay tuned!

Kinda hate that however this series is received, if people are disappointed in the show for whatever reasons, they're gonna pinpoint the creative team for rebooting the series, for casting an actress with idol buzz, and if the acting isn't up to par with their expectations, the directors/writers are gonna be blamed for not giving the actress better directions/writing to work with ¯\_(-_-)_/¯

So this is reboot version?? Im seeing everything from broadcaster, writers, directors to cast everything is different…
No, it's just different directors (4 new and two returning). The leading director/executive producer from GFN 1-2 is returning (Pokpong Pairach Khumwan). The original writing team returns as well (Lek Kongdej Jaturanrasamee, Mui Aticha Tanthanawigrai, Siam Tinnapat Banyatpiyapoj) as these writers have all reposted the new series.

It is the same team so of course they have permission. The IP right lies with GMM Studios under GMM Grammy and GFN: Reset will be a OneD series, airing both on national TV channel One31 and Netflix.

Kitty took on a few psychologically heavy film roles after Girl From Nowhere, ones that required her transformation so she's just been recovering and taking hiatus from acting in general, she's still popping up at fashion events every once in a while.

A really cute first episode. I really like Jira and Ohn. Ohn is so relatable because I too am low in confidence. Thai PBS has never been subtle with their social awareness psas so I don't mind too much LGBTQ+ lecturing and messaging in their shows. It's nice to see them trying to balance both not being too preachy but also showcasing queer lives. I love all the conversations they have had with each other so far, especially Jira vocalising that they should communicate more so that Ohn doesn't feel that he's the only one "trying" in their relationship 😭😭😭😭 The morning silly quarrels they have feel strangely reminiscent of my own parents (adjusting the water temperature, clothes, one having already washed a shirt that the other is trying to find 🤣...) looking forward to more of jira and ohn navigating their relationship next week
