Title Nour
For those who are disappointed that the show is giving more romance than mystery and investigation, I think you should skip this week's episode as well 😅🤣

Synopsis: Headquarters has sent Peter (Peanut Peeranat)—a police officer who is James’s rival—to take over the arson investigation from him. Realizing his mistake, Ken tries everything he can to ensure James remains on the case; however, the situation takes a turn for the worse when the prime suspect behind the arson turns out to be someone completely unexpected.

Interviewer: Then let's talk about the word Nour. It's like a new species that's actually quite brutal. And it's…
Boss: First, I should explain the word Nour itself. It's spelled N-O-U-R, and pronounced "Nour." In some languages, it means "light," and in some interpretations, "humanity." So I felt that really fit what we wanted to tell. What does humanity look like in these characters, when they're almost non-human? We wanted that conflict. But if Thai people have to pronounce "Nour"... not everyone may pronounce it the same way, because it's an English accent. Especially people outside the big cities. "Nour" might sound like the Thai word "nua," meaning rich and flavorful. So we created the pronunciation "Nour" as a transliterated term of its own. We wanted people to call it Nour, so it wouldn't sound funny. So it wouldn't be confused with "nua," meaning delicious or flavorful. Vampire mythology exists all over the world. There are European vampires and American vampires, and they're quite different. When you think of Hollywood vampires... you probably think of Twilight first. European vampires can be different, like in Let the Right One In. It's about a child who's a vampire. It's not overly obvious. They seem to live hidden among humans. There are strange behaviors and murder cases. We took inspiration from all the vampire lore we researched, and that became Nour. Then we thought, what if this really existed... as a vampire born in Thailand, and people called it Nour? Maybe Nour has existed for so long that it became the legend of the "Nour." Maybe a Ghost Nour kills differently from an ordinary murderer. European vampires have their own rules, like fearing sunlight, silver, or garlic. So we had to create a whole new world-building system for Nour. What would be on the checklist for our version of a vampire?

Interviewer: Then let's talk about the word Nour. It's like a new species that's actually quite brutal. And it's closely connected to the secret of the city. So I'd like to ask you about the word Nour. I've heard you say it's actually even more brutal than vampires. What was it inspired by? What ideas made you decide that Nour had to be exactly like this?

Title Nour
Director Boss: Like I said, [Nour] is really about humanity. Before these characters became Nour, they were human too. Even after becoming Nour, their minds and consciousness remain human. They just don't age or die. So they're still human inside, but they slowly lose things. The people they love will die. The things they love will disappear. Even memories and places—like this garden we're sitting in. Ten or fifty years from now, this garden might not even exist. But they still have to keep living. That's why the story talks so much about humanity. How do we deal with loss? How do we deal with change? That's what the story explores. Through the search for a murderer who is capable of killing Nour.

Interviewer: Let's talk about the characters. For example, James and Ken. One of them is Nour, right?

Boss: Yes, one of them is Nour.

Interviewer: I'd like to know how you created these two characters... and what they change in each other's lives.

Boss: Someone who's lived for 200 years... would probably have become extremely numb to everything. But after Ken meets James, someone who has never opened his heart... finally has someone helping him find clues about the killer. The more they investigate, the more he opens his heart. From someone who barely seemed human, so cold and distant... James suddenly comes into his life, and they have to work together. Then suddenly, his humanity starts coming back. His eyes used to look empty, but he slowly starts looking at this person differently. The humanity returns to his eyes, and he slowly starts to feel... his heart beating again. Now he has to weigh things up. His desire to die, which has been his life's main mission... against this new love. "Maybe I don't want to die anymore."

Interviewer: Because if they fall in love... one day they'll still have to part, because Ken is immortal.

Boss: Exactly.

Title Nour Spoiler
Interviewer: That's really interesting. So let me ask another question. Every character in the story has a secret.…
Boss: Then there are other characters, like Dr. Jirat and Chita. Dr. Jirat is presented as someone who has to be a good person... a good son, a good doctor. But he has a secret too. I probably can't spoil that one. Even a "good person"... can still have shades of gray. In the series I make... there's no character who's completely white or completely black. So you'll have to wait and see what Dr. Jirat's secret is. As for Chita's secret, he works helping collect bodies... but he has problems with his leg and isn't really accepted by others. His coworkers bully him in the story. But his secret is that he secretly likes someone. And working at the hospital... lets him gradually get closer to that person. So that's his secret—he secretly has feelings for this person.

the show is about hope and light in darkness 😅 i would assume any deaths occuring would not fall on the depressed/suicidal characters. it makes more sense to me that any deaths occurring would be of characters that have a zest for life, the sunshine happy characters

Title Nour Spoiler
Nour as a fantasy genre with its own lore requires quite a lot of suspension of belief but the characters are…
So the story of Dr. Jirat and his ex Baifern was supposed to be a bit more detailed. They were going to go abroad together to do further medical training, like they got a scholarship together for their studies.

The pen that Dr Ji took out to kill himself is a gift that his ex girlfriend gave to him. And the detail about his line being vertical and not horizontal is because Dr Ji was very serious about wanting to die and so if its a vertical cut and no one come save him in time then he'd actually die.

Due to runtime and production budget, they could not do the full backstory for Dr Ji and his ex but the director shared this within the Space talk on X after the episode.

Nour as a fantasy genre with its own lore requires quite a lot of suspension of belief but the characters are just so charming and I'm really invested in the physical and mental wellbeing of my 4 suicidal leads and IM HERE FOR IT.

I was in the space with the director/actors yesterday and I heard the bit that got cut. Spoilers down below.
