This was a pure Japanese style show. With japanese mannerisms and japanese culture throughout. It is not the Thai version and shouldn't be expected to be. The acting is over the top because that is the style of Japan. Kai and Rei are not "more childish" than Rain and Sky, they are just more expressive. But they behave the same way as them; so if Kai and Rei are childish so are Rain and Sky. I think most people are stuck in the ways Thailand's 'Love in the air' is and won't allow themselves to enjoy a different feeling of the same concept. For example, Thailand's 'Love in the air' may be longer and have more scenes, but we get to see more of Kai(Sky) and Rei(Rain)'s friendship in the japanese one. It really is just a matter of if you prefer japanese or thai dramas more. But if you can understand that different adaptations will yield different vibes and you like both japanese and Thai dramas this is really good.
