Is Long Ballad a good choice to help me move on? I already know that it has a good ending, but what about quality? Otherwise, I might just wait for Joy of Life 2.
I hate writing reviews, so it's a good thing that you said almost everything I wanted. If they had to end the drama with everyone dying (which was completely unnecessary IMO), I couldn't agree more with you that Ying Yang should have ended the drama, maybe even her and LTG together as the characters our mains sacrificed for and those who continued living well. And Fang Yilun's Shisan was absolutely my favorite. I hope he scores many main roles because Yu Shisan was amazing.
The ending was so disappointing to me that I contemplated lowering the rating even more (I'm joining the petty club), but the characters, comedy and choreography stopped me at the same rating as yours, 8/10.
before starting this drama I had asked how this drama was compared to SOKP...most of the comments said it was…
SOKP is an example opposite of A Journey to Love. The drama had many flaws, mainly in directorial department, but the ending saved it, it was very satisfactory. A Journey to Love was superior in every way (direction, cinematography, acting...) until the ending destroyed it (in my opinion). I will re-watch certain parts of SOKP. A Journey to Death? Never. In the end, it depends on what are you looking for from your drama I guess.
I finally finished. It's amazing how the ending can poison the entire experience you previously had. The writers dropped the ball in the end, it felt like they were chasing the tragedy on purpose. We knew some of the characters would have a bad ending, but all of them ??! I loved the characters, all the actors did their job admirably, it's the writing that betrayed them in the end. If Fang Yilun doesn't start getting more main roles after Yu Shisan, there is no justice in the world. I will have to take a break from C-drama because I feel like I have been personally through the war and that is not the experience I am looking for in my entertainment.
I watched another episode, 36. I'm leaving the rest for tomorrow. When I finally finish, I'll give C-dramas a break until Joy of Life 2 probably. But, I will never revisit this drama, ever.
Being a Chinese script writer must be so hard. You can have the best script and writing throughout your show,…
In the same vein, the ending is still part of the show and can and will significantly influence what I think about it. For me personally, a good ending can save a not so good show. A bad ending can destroy an excellent one. I am afraid (after only watching ep. 35) that this will be the latter case. I will finish it, but I'll never re-watch it again. And my rating will reflect that.
That was the quickest falling in love for both Shisan and the princess. While they play cute well, I am not convinced. Maybe I am just grumpy because I really wanted the princess to take LTG away, lol.
This is basically calm before the storm. Emperor Wu is useless (Yang Ying should have kicked him), Emperor An greedy and paranoid. Li Tongguang is unstable. I am sooo afraid for our squad now that they are planning to extract the Emperor Rat.
The cray-cray marquise and the spoiled brat princess deserve each other. I hate, hate, hate the rumors they will…
On a more cheerful note, Yuanzhou worked that runway for Ruyi. "Official" could officially be a kept man, lol. They were so cute. And the ending fight was hot.
The cray-cray marquise and the spoiled brat princess deserve each other. I hate, hate, hate the rumors they will pair her with Yu Shisan. He must have gouged his eyes because of it, ha.
A Journey to Death is a fitting re-title.
The ending was so disappointing to me that I contemplated lowering the rating even more (I'm joining the petty club), but the characters, comedy and choreography stopped me at the same rating as yours, 8/10.
