Is this true or a mistake on MDL? It's Friday, we shouldn't be getting new episodes. I mean, I am not complaining, I just don't want to keep my hopes up.

That fight in episode 24 was awesome, the choreography was great with touches of humor and Renjie's integrity paid off.

On the other hand, I am afraid for Cao An. And just when she started to get along with Ma Rong.

I am worried now that they started talking about marriage... that they'll just fridge Cao An for Di Renjie's pain. I really like them together. The writer might be Dutch, but production is still Chinese. 😨

Honestly, I wanted to strangle Ma Rong in the latest two episodes. I knew consequences would eventually catch up with her, only they caught Qiao Tai instead.

I like how varied the cases are. Also, Law vs Justice dilemma is eternal. I wonder how this latest case will be resolved.

I hate that we have to wait so long for the new episodes. I was spoiled by other C-dramas which release episodes every day, sigh.

Cao An was correct when she said that solving the latest case (Red Pavilion) would help Di Renjie pacify the town. If he solves the murder, all those people burning offerings for Li Tao (if I remembered the name correctly) will offer their respect and support to him. And when his soldiers arrive, he will have both the carrot and the stick. I wonder what other god-forsaken corners of the country will Empress send him to.

I am not usually a romance fan, especially in my detective drama, but the chemistry between Di Renjie and Cao An is perfect. Understated, but hot at the same time. I hope it doesn't end in tragedy. The writer is Dutch, so maaaybe Di Renjie gets a happy private life. If they were Chinese, I would start burning incense, lol.

They will grow on you as the drama goes on. ;)

Great beginning! This is drama tailor made for my taste.

Tragic ending for both the leads and their squad.

Only princess Yang Ying lives from the characters we were introduced to from the beginning. Everyone else is gone. 😭 I'm sorry.

A Journey to Death is a fitting re-title.

Is Long Ballad a good choice to help me move on? I already know that it has a good ending, but what about quality? Otherwise, I might just wait for Joy of Life 2.

I hate writing reviews, so it's a good thing that you said almost everything I wanted. If they had to end the drama with everyone dying (which was completely unnecessary IMO), I couldn't agree more with you that Ying Yang should have ended the drama, maybe even her and LTG together as the characters our mains sacrificed for and those who continued living well. And Fang Yilun's Shisan was absolutely my favorite. I hope he scores many main roles because Yu Shisan was amazing.

The ending was so disappointing to me that I contemplated lowering the rating even more (I'm joining the petty club), but the characters, comedy and choreography stopped me at the same rating as yours, 8/10.
