It's true. You can find it in the Google Play Book, but it is in Chinese. Search "HIStory3" and you will find it along with the photobook. they were released earlier today.

In the official novel, there is an alternative happy ending called "If version ending - that day you are still here." In the version, Shigu had a car accident but is alive. The two are still together. The story ends with Haoting giving the engagement ring to Shigu on the top of a mountain. I will really love it if the director can film this and add it to the series.
