this emperor sure has a stagima. almost dying and still found a concubine and has a son with her.. people may like mingyi but I can't at all. First, he stole his bf`s fiancee, then when he got bored with her and wanted a carefree life and found a concubine that is young and put all the responsibility in the empress. for me, he is purely selfish. he doesn't think about the others what his actions may cause, he only thinks about his own personal opinion. he may be a great emperor, strategist, but sure he is a TERRIBLE friend and also a terrible husband. he couldn't even tell his empress that he found a concubine and she needs to find it for someone else.

according to what I've read in some forums, the new concubine seems to be in the novel the love of mingyi life. in the novel, he and yanyan have only three siblings, not 6 like real life. Mingyi will understand better the love between de rang and yan yan.

I agree 100 %. he was obsessed with her and used political reasons (her political view and also her family support) to steal his bf fiancee. but he keeps on saying for her to wait for him (saying for the paint that he did of her) so the moment that he learned that they were engaged he wanted to marry her. it wasnt at all about political reasons, it was actually a plus one.
