Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao actually had unconditional love for each other. They both understood they couldn't be together, but still invested so much time, helping each other and being there regardless of who they represent. Xiang Liu didn't see a point in expressing his feelings for Xiao Yao, and she didn't want to start something and have to deal with the heartbreak, not to mention they were on opposite sides, and she wouldn't want to side with an enemy, having to abandon her brother and family again. She wanted to avoid pain, and he didn't want to hurt her. They both knew how they felt for each other, but neither of them said it out loud, both being afraid it would cause more harm than good. Xiao Yao failed to see Xiang Liu's good side and his intentions because she didn't want to fall for him; she looked for faults, and he pushed her away, keeping his distance, so she picked the easy life. But that didn't stop Xiang Liu from treating her with care. He grew up being heartless and cold, but softened for her. He changed for her. He risked his life not once but 2 times, causing him to lose 3 of his heads just to keep her safe and out of harm. She never got to know that. His love for her was selfless, and no other main lead did that for her. He sacrificed so much for her and couldn't be with her in the end. But he kept her close to his heart till his last breath. The story really broke my heart. No matter the sacrifice, she didn't pick him. And he didn't give up protecting her even though he knew she couldn't love him. They both hurt each other on purpose to get away from love, and in the end, they longed for each other more than anything.
If they had tried, I'm sure they would've ended up together, but they didn't give themselves a chance and that broke me.
Maybe that's why the drama is called LOST YOU FOREVER
Xiang Liu is not coming back, and Xiao Yao has lost him forever.
They both lost each other forever.
