The plot of animation deviated from the novel a lot while the drama is following the novel. Even the screenwriter…

One of the biggest change is the sword contest. And when Ye Dingzhi entered the story. This should be the quickest way to see which one is more faithful. And it isn't like I don't like the change. Ye Dingzhi is a main character. The earlier they introduce him the better. In the donghua, Song Yanhui of Wu Shuang city fought that last match against Dongyun. So whether it is Ye Dingzhi or Song Yanghui. Not only that Ye Dingzhi also took the role of the white haired immortal.

Here, you can see the Hair haired immortal is there.

Here he fought SongYanhui instead of Ye Dingzhi.

This is such a major change in the Live action compare to the novel/donghua. That it is clear which one is unfaithful. And unfaithful is not necessary bad. Different media have different constraint. Adaption must be effective, changes are necessary.

The problem with the commenter is that they commented that it is unfaithful and they didn't like it. Implying that it changed too much to the point of bad.

The present of the maid or the lack there off. Doesn't change the story this much compare to this example. I need to search for more. But I maybe wrong on the maid. All i did was control F asd it is 1 AM here. So obviously I was wrong. But even in the live action there is a maid. But she showed up in Qiandong city. When I first watch the live action, my initial reaction was they are the same character. But who know.

I gonna search for more chapters. I have ZERO problem with insult. I have problem with truthfulness. Especially over people I respect. I don't know rando online to respect them. I do respect the donghua animator. Especially most of the people watch it are not really paying anyway.

By the way, I HAVE no problem with insult. I have problem with slander. Slander as in not truthful about something. Feel free to insult me. I don't know enough about you nor care enough to insult you back, outside of what I said that I FEEL that the implication is cowardly. If you want, I can insult myself too. I am idiotic, shameful, a**hole, blah blah. I have zero problem with insults.

Huh, I went to great length to fact check, "Bai Dongjun suddenly shouted: "Xiao Bai!" Literally the character Xiao Bai exist. When the commenter said didn't exist. I already debunk the anime didn't have time so they have to cut stuffs. If they had to cut stuffs. Why do they add so many fights. It ain't like it would be cheaper or less time if they adding all these fights. Or maybe the fights also exist in the novel. I can spend another hour to check. But it this point, who the heck care. Certainly no one in this thread care. I only did it for myself really to make sure I got the right info/and the right informed opinion.

If you want to insult me. Feel free. It is a bit cowardly to "imply" so not to get your hand dirty. I don't label people that easily. I spent one hour of my day to fact check this. First I DID took this person's words. But as this person typed it didn't match up BECAUSE I watched all of the donghua.

SO now, I actually have to hunt down the novel and use google translate. DO you see the length I go to. It took this person 5 sec to said it is unfaithful. It took me an hour to look through multiple website, to decide whether or not this person saying the truth. If you don't see the differences I can't help you.

I rather you call me an asshole. Then playing this pretend game that you didn't by just merely implying i am an asshole. If you want to throw mud. Just do it.

Btw, the poster fall back on hearsay from someone else. I also will not spread lies based on what other people said. Unless making sure in my post. That it is based on opinion of some others. Like if I had take the words of the person for what it is. Then I got into a convo with someone else. And also said that the donghua is unfaithful (I didn't read it, I reference someone who also don't read it, who reference some group I don't even know) . (And who know maybe that group also referencing people who didn't read that either). It just spread like wild fires. Lies travel around the world, before the truth even make to the starting point. I will be honest, I had NEVER SAID I read the novels. That is why I don't even make statement like donghua is faithful or not faithful. Statement I made is "MAYBE" the donghua isn't "unfaithful."

The point is don't spread lies. Such as something is unfaithful to the novel when you don't have the evidence for it. It is very insulting to the donghua anime team. Two people on this thread agree with each others and slander the donghua team. And it turns out the blind is leading he blind. The people I respond to. I don't know or care enough to pick a fight or change their opinion. My posts are for numerous other people that visit this page. That the donghua may not be "unfaithful." Heck those simple statements also steer people away from checking something out. If those are statements of fact, then it is something else. It is so obvious, then I don't know why you even asking me why. Let's say I don't know anything about you, and I brazenly making statements like you are lazy at work (aka producing something unfaithful). Is that a right thing to do? If you still don't get the point, then whatever.

Screenwriter: Zhou Mu Nan, Lin Cong He. Screenwriter: Zhou Mu Nan, Ma Jia Ni, Mu Jing Wen. These are for the live action. The author is Zhou Mu Nan. Obviously I don't think he did the bulk of the work. After all, he is still writing novels. He probably in charge of supervision. Like Eichiro Oda for One Piece. Or even George RR Martin for House of the Dragon or Game of Thrones.

Even compare to dongua for Dashing Youth. Multiple fights were cut. Bali Dongyun's maid servant was cut. Roles for more minor characters are given to major characters. Which make sense because when you hired live actor. You want to use them as much as possible vs actor that doesn't reappear latter.

All I am saying is, how do you know which one more faithful. Did you actually read the novel? Or are you going with your bias of which version you like better. And post hoc it with saying the author is the screen writer. How much time does he realistically have?

He listed as a screen writer for Blood of youth. While he was writing Ah He Zhuan and Jian Yu Hua Yu Jian.

If you in fact did read the novel. Then I conceded my point. That truly the live action is the more faithful one. But if you DID NOT read the novel, then I don't think you can say this is the more faithful one.

"They would need more money and time." Even this statement made no sense. Blood of youth took multiple years to anime and the anime isn't even at the conclusion of season 1 of the live action.

They release by season. Season 1 of Brewmaster aka Dashing youth. are 20 eps in the donghua. Which is the first 7 eps of the live action. About 3 eps of the donghua to 1 ep of the live action. Even if you cut the beginning and end credit. Let said that about 15 min of new content per ep. That came out roughly the same running length.

Season 1 - 黄金棺材篇 / Golden Coffin Arc
Episodes 1 - 26 (aired 26 Dec 2018 - 5 Jun 2019)
Season 2 - 风花雪月篇 / Wind Flower Snow Moon Arc
Part 1 - Episodes 1-16 (aired 28 Jul - 3 Nov 2021)
Part 2 - Episodes 17-32 (aired 26 Jan - 4 May 2022)
Special episode (aired 15 Jun 2022)
Season 3 - 海外仙山篇 / Immortal Mountain Beyond the Sea Arc
Episodes 1 - 26 (aired 25 Oct 2023 - 10 Apr 2024)
Season 4 - 血染天启篇 / Blood-Soaked Heavenly Revelations Arc

You can see they taking their sweet time for Blood of youth from 2019 and still nowhere near the ending. They have all the time in the world.

Heck in a few months, Dashing Youth will end. While the donghua only covered up to the first 7 eps. And that airing is from July 2022 to Feb 2023 to just finish the first 7 eps. To cover the entire 40 eps. It gonna be like 5 to 6 years. So they have all the time. They are not anime this thing like in a single year. Like the production of the live action probably like 1.5 years for the full 40 eps.

Season 1 - 20 episodes
Episodes 1-10 (aired 27 Jul to 21 Sep 2022)
Episodes 11-20 (aired 14 Dec 2022 to 8 Feb 2023)
Season 2
Officially announced on 3 Aug 2023.
Starting 17 Jul 2024.

Consider the Donghua for Blood of Youth went into so much more details in certain plot. Like the snake islands stuff. And even the backstory of the villain of the arc. Which version of Blood of Youth is more faithful?

Title Dashing Youth Spoiler
The exam arc, kinda made me really dislike this character Mr. Li. His nonchalant manner while people seeking tutelage under him got kill left and right. He should have known being that powerful and able to sense and locate the suspect right away. As if he doesn't care who die as long as it isn't the main protagonist. Even as one of his nominee, the Taoist guy and Ye Dingzhi didn't arrive in time. He should know the assassins are still out there. And they didn't like isn't it bizarre that those two are not here yet? The more powerful, the more all knowing, the more responsible they are.

The weirdest scene for me has been the Medicine King sitting down scene. When he sat down, we saw his clothes cover up a basket. And then the zoom in, at first there is no basket covered. But then you realize, it is covered just on the wrong side. As if they flip the scene like a mirror.

In tboy sikong changfeng said li hanyi is 4 years younger than him but why does in today episode it looks like…
Could be puberty and growth spurt. Have you see a 8th or 9th grader vs a 12th grader? Or a 10th grader vs a 20 years old?

Thanks for the info. Water Margin doesn't have enough rated users (100K+), it's already on the waiting list tho!…
The bell curve I am speaking off. Journey to the west of 350k ratings vs something like Joy of Life (1 million plus). I would surmise that the latter is more popular than the former. And I am a huge fan of the latter. And I am sure a bunch of people who are fans had died since the show air. But if I have to bet money. I would bet more people alive know of the old Journey to the West compare to Joy of Life. Lol, I gonna go check to see any body put this page in wayback to see how your list change over the years (especially knowing about the waiting list). :)

That is fair. Can you help me with one thing, I found it hard to navigate douban since I don't speak the language. Can you set it to sort by popularity or by rating on only chinese television. I kinda want to see what barely miss your list. It is interesting. Just like your lower threshold of newer shows. I am guessing it will be also a bell curve. Some of the older shows also miss out. But in honesty that is fine. People who use this mydramalist or even douban, should skewed younger. Older shows with slower pacing, and bad cgi doesn't hold as much interest anymore. So it makes sense that it isn't on your list.
