Can someone summarize the correct order of ending? The xhs video doesn't work for everyone (at least not for me).
it's like this: xiaolan disappears — xiaolan clears her name in the modern timeline — zhou cheng finds her in the modern timeline to take her back (presumably he found a way through the alarm clock) — they both return to granny yu's for the new year — leading to the ending where they have two children
i’m gonna have severe withdrawal after this, just like when bato.to shut down 😂 i love all the characters and their arcs and i just finished leaving them farewell flowers and messages. the ending also leaves me wanting more, it feels like the story could easily go on for 83 or more episodes. i love it so, so much! 😭

i read that initially, this was supposed to be split into two seasons. alas, the budget got cut and ended up with a smaller production team for the drama. still, i actually wouldn’t trade it—otherwise, we wouldn’t have a good adaptation like this.
the production team is honestly pretty poor—they don’t have money left for proper promotion. they spent it where it matters, on the drama itself. they’re passionate and really care about it. when they finally hit the required index to get the final payment, they immediately bought cloud bookings right after.
I feel like that's pretty dumb of the writers. It's no secret they cannot write what they intend to so why even…
tbh original scripts are pretty rare in chinese dramas these days because the capital rarely supports them. that’s why adaptations keep popping up left and right. the budget also plays a big role. i read an article saying platforms are using AI now to predict plot outcomes, decide budgets, or even tweak scripts. they’re apparently planning an AI-generated drama too (might actually be released next year). chinese dramas seem to have these issues but i haven’t really seen the same with other dramas.
i feel like the screenwriters and the author have already made good adaptations and changes as it is in this drama, the production team might have wanted to try their luck in pushing the intended ending but were unable to do so.

had to go all out with the flowers this time, her last performance as xia xiaolan was absolutely incredible 🌸✨ dream of golden years is such a great drama. it’s been a while since i’ve watched something this compelling. truly one of the best i’ve seen in years. as someone who’s selective about the content i consume, that says a lot. it now sits at the same table as my fave cdramas, meet yourself and scent of time.
also, i just realized how many flowers i owe her! i’ve loved watching almost all of her dramas and films.
