He is not dead even in the novel he became immortal and left the country. In all intensive purposes he IS dead to that country because he gave up on the mortal world and ascended to the immortal world.

He did NOT die he became an immortal he was in the 9th realm he left the country because he lost everything he ever cared about and did not care to be around anyone in that country anymore. You are partially right in Ding Ning he did give up the name Ding Ning but he never died. He can't die he is basically a god now because of the heaven punishing sword. It will continually give him spirit energy hence why he made it into the 9th realm.
