So far, it's pretty much predictable. I'm just curious how the game actually started. Is it real or just in their head? I mean, we didn't go this far to see all of this really a work of a supernatural being, right? That would truly be disappointing. Nevertheless, it's an entertaining light watch if you can overlook the plotholes and some parts in acting and production.
From the previews it seems like there are two mafias left one being Daebom and the other being ....... And I think…
Yeah I could see that. Just hoping that there are more twists because this story sure has a lot of unexplored potentials. Now I am only waiting for the clearance of the MC and Jung Won's actual role - just can't seem to shake off my suspicion about the latter for her coding skill and some other stuff.
Unless they do not manage to vote the remaining mafia out in the next episode, it will be an exciting plot twist if we have another mafia who keeps their identity hidden, works as a lone wolf, and does not join the mafia pack that even the other mafias did not notice their existence.
Jung Won = Se eun? they might be the same person, we never know
Been overthinking about Jung Won a lot, since from the very beginning she is portrayed as someone who is familiar with coding and the game involves app. She only said she was citizen during the pilot but well they did not show it on screen. Like, as a character who sticks around the MC a lot, it will be very bland if she is just an ordinary citizen doing her job dutifully as the MC's assistant.
Here is the plot twist- the FL might be host but lost her memory.
Yeah I am with this theory. She saw apparitions and stuff, she also accessed an area no one else can. Or maybe they play the games not in reality but inside their head, but FL sure might be the host,
Spoiler for the second episode!!!!! I don't understand what happened like the rules were one of the Mafia will…
Sure there are a lot of things that don't make sense in this series -- but as for your questions, there would be an explanation at later episodes. Unless you don't mind spoiler.
I just started watching ep. 3. now. This has an interesting premise but too bad the acting (not everyone), the directing, the script and the BGM are a bit soapy. Hope it will pick up from here
I incidentally watched this after watching Netflix's documentary "The Raincoat Killer". It helps me understand the context of the series and the Korean police procedures back then. Also, Kwon Il-young (the real-life Song Ha-young) does look soft and sensitive in the documentary. Kim Nam-gil did a good job portraying him.
I really love this review. "Please be reminded this is based off Profiler Kwon-il yong's novel from his real accounts of being South Korea's first profiler" and " you have to be open minded" are on points. A lot of people dislike this drama because it can be frustrating at times. It's understandable, though, since people watch dramas, especially the crime ones, for thrill and enjoyment. But if we see it from a different perspective, this drama is done to (more or less) realistically portray what happened back then and that alone makes this drama a gem. I appreciate its informational aspect and found this drama enjoyable regardless.
Anyway, thank you for writing such an eye-opening review.
"Masterpiece", "best thriller ever", "we need season 2"... lets all take a deep breath here... lol.It was good…
I think it was done that way to remain faithful and accurate to the actual events since it was based on a true story. I personally like this drama's realistic tone compared to other crime and police procedural dramas that are often overdramatized. I won't call it a masterpiece or the best thriller ever but it's a rare gem and was so good, not many dramas are done this way. But maybe it's also because I am a fan of slowburns...
Up until the 18th episode the plot is predictable for me. But episode 19 enraged me and broke my heart.
Never once thought the baby was swapped. SYH is a sad, sad character. He was a mere pawn in a grand scheme -- trying to hold his moral value and was alone fighting a monster. He suffered depression from being mislabeled as a serial killer's son and lost the chance to live a happy childhood with his twin siblings -- only to have his brain harvested alive and be hated by the whole nation. What especially broke my heart is seeing how sweet he was as a kid. I hope Eun Chong live a happy life in place of his father.
