"A-drift" idea with suprising warmth
This show takes some warming up to. Episode 1 was pretty rough and slow, and episode 2 starts to pick it up from there and keeps going.
There were a few things that really bothered me at first, and Kian came off as being thoughtless in how he designed everything. In the first few episodes, Kian really gave off a sense of incompetence rather than a sense of whimsy, which I think was what he was going for. Kian (his unhygenic ways) and Ye Eun (her constant screams) really irritated me at first due to their seemingly lack of thought and carelessness, but they really grew on me through out the series. They had a different approach to things, but Kian's heart is warm and it shows, and Ye Eun had a sense of responsibility. Jin really did hold everything together though. Without him, I don't think it would have been as enjoyable.
Jin getting frustrated with certain aspects of the design and Kian's approach showed but what was admirable was his mentality to everything. Even though he was tired and had complaints, he still enforced the original dream and vision that Kian had, even though he had many opportunities to take the easy way out. Jin truly was the glue that held it all together.
The various guests on the show were really adorable, and I was sad to see the rock climbing team leave. I wished we got to hear more about the female guests, but it seems that the show focused mainly on the male guests and the female guests were just there as window dressing. The carpenter and the swimmer were the most interesting to me and I really wish I got to hear more about their stories but they were just glossed over.
Overall, this was a chaotic ride throughout with moments of quiet warmth and fun.
