Okay so this is hard to explain but I'll just make it simple, I don't know if I'm correct cuz I watched it while it was ongoing. But anyway the king viewed his own son as a competition so he sent him to be killed, he also sad because he regrets it cuz he knows he was blinded by the throne. I hope this doesn't confuse you.

This drama would have being better if time wasn’t wasted and if teamwork was properly explored, please don’t tell me I was the only who enjoyed how do yeon n tae yi worked together. The other characters like park Jin geom’s partner and do yeon in this drama should have been give more to do. The first half of this drama had potential but the rest wasn’t it.
