Lol this comment was 2 months ago so you probably already finished this drama but I'll answer your question for anyone who want to start this drama. This drama was my favorite cdrama back then (now I have some many) I love to re-watch this drama. As far as I remember this drama didn't have any stupid breakup. Just some small misunderstanding but solve pretty well by both lead. Nothing to worry about parents (you'll love his mother) only the male lead's old friend causing him some problem but the lead still going strong and they're so adorable ><

I'll answer your 1 and 2 as yes because xuan ji have a strong mindset even though she lack that 6 senses and she is strong-willed!. This is my first xianxia so I don't know about AOL and TMOPB but I once read that xuan ji and jin mi (?) have the same characteristics but xuan ji is far more better not really sure though but I really love xuan ji!
For question 3 as a sucker for romance too I would say this drama won't dissapoint you. Your demand of "romance built around obstacles eventually get to where they are" just perfect for this drama. You'll see xuan ji's teasing si feng a lot and it's so cuteee lol kinda spoiler but you'll see si feng (the male lead) suffering so much, just prepare your heart :p
Finally finish this drama. Such a refreshing drama. Even the ending is already known ep in 1 I'm still nervous about their road to marriage. Kinda feel bad for her mom action but maybe that's the only way for her to accept him and this drama redeem it back nicely. Not just end it abruptly so if you want to watch this just go!
Maybe to early to judge but, usually I hate school drama because of the annoying loud female lead but here I really love Xia Lin Xi personality with how bubbly and smart her is. I hope it doesn't change^^

Because the last 6 episodes is like additional episode. They could end in earlier but maybe for us to not ask for season 2. As I watch this on-going, I really thought episode 30 is the end that when I know there's 6 eps left just make me ?? . There are also saying that they change the director so many times that sometimes it feel like a different drama.

That selfless and forgiving is not all for xuanji tho. For example, he forgives minyan for so many time and said he understand him? Like boy? Why so forgiving and down-to-earth? At least, xuan ji takes effort to redeem her mistake, whiile minyan idk I still feel unsure :(
