I always recognize and like your comments everywhere.. always sound objective.
Thank you so much! Best compliment. I try my best because I'm really obsessed with anything South Korean. My obsession with K drama has lead me to become a quasi scholar of the South Korean economy, history, past and current political climate.
Okay, I have to admit that I'm intrigued by your opinion, and your comment kept bothering me, but in a good way…
I beg to differ. He has played different roles, at least compared to LMH. LMH gets the roles of the 'top of the food chain' and that's why I'm looking forward to 'Pachinko' (which I read)....I digress, he has has the opportunity to pay a cop, a last option to a king, and a bff to the ML. I feel all his characters blend in and they are inherently different. They could be grouped in the same category if one is just looking towards NOT THE ML group but I don't think they're the same or close to. Look how Woo Do-Hwan, he was able to INSTANTLY create a ML personality based on this supporting role portrayal. I don't like comparing actors but I'm shocked he got the lead role because everyone was clamoring for them when I know many female SK actresses waited A LONG period to get what they deserved from the get go. Liek I said, I hope he blows me out of the water by the end of this.

I fist got introduced to him through Strong Girl.... and then proceeded to watch Scarlet Heart... and even then I didn't think he had the ability to carry a full time ML role due to his wooden acting. He just pursed his lip, or looked like he did, and just uttered words (at least to me. Mind you, his lips are very attractive to me). I dont "suspend my belief" when he is acting and that's just intuitive. I've never been one to say, "GIVE HIM A LEAD ROLE!!" because I don't think he is ready or just doesn't have the ability. SK has amazing actors and I've become used to seeing nothing but the best because I drop anything that doesn't meet my standards. I'm curious to see if he changes along with the drama BUT I have the feeling he won't, that is just the way he acts that is not believable to me. Even LMH (who isn't perfect by any means) is a better actor. Maybe I'm being to harsh, thus I would never judge the drama without giving it some time.
Unpopular opinion: I'm not convinced he can carry a whole drama as the main lead.....I would like to be proved wrong though. The pilot leaves much to be desired but I always give dramas 3 or 4 episodes before I make a decision to continue or drop.
I stopped watching. I left it around episode 6...before it goes downhill. I did fast forward at the finale. I just can't be emotionally invested and have it go downhill during this melancholic period in the pandemic life
tbh I already saw this coming when they tried to sell us the crap like " ohh no why does the king look sexy ,…
I agree with some of your points but also applaud the courage they took by just having something like this... that tetthers between BL and regular drama for most of SK. Maybe that means we're closer to have a K drama love story that is popular and also gay. I see it as progress and although they did set it up to have it end that way, maybe the next one will be better
I wasn't expecting much BUT OMG!!! THIS SHOW IS CRAZY FUN. One of the best EVER! I'm usually so nitpicky about my tastes but I just die laughing with each episode and each and every one of her/his antics ;)
The beauty of this drama for me was the romantic subplot between Seo Dan and Lee Young. That was pure FIRE! I also love the rendering qualities of the main lead. He played the naive, innocent, and Asperger-y character to perfections! I'm also glad I waited for all of the episodes to come out before I continued. I was watching it when it began but around episode 4 I got bored. Slice of life drama is better binged watched than waiting every week for 2 episodes. I wasn't expecting much from this drama but dare I say that it was a nice surprise to have it be a solid, well-acted, and refreshing take on the room com K drama section.
