Started this a few days back because the premise sounded fun cause I love fantasy and xianxia stuff, and it has both Zhou Ye and Hou Minghao whom I love and 14 episodes in, I'm really enjoying it!! I was a bit unsure seeing some comments saying they couldn't get into it but honestly, for me, it is very fun. Maybe because I'm not really comparing it much to their other works, and ppl coming from LITC may be doing that so they can't enjoy much? Cause the main couple's chemistry is very different here, it's more light, fun, easy, than it was in LITC which had this tension and pull type of vibe that kept you on the edge of the seat. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to watching more of this because it's really been so much enjoyment so far!!
Just finished it like, not even 2 minutes ago, and I must must must recommend it!! They did such a great job on the story, and the actors were all so good 😭 Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao have insane chemistry, I need them to do another drama together again some day ❤️
I watched this after I watched A Dream Within a Dream and while I liked that one too, TROTR was just so much fun and better at the couple romance. I absolutely loved the main pairing here, and both Zhao Lusi and Ding Yuxi did amazing in their roles. The puppy love sort of chemistry they showed just made me smile so much. Definitely a must watch for anyone who likes the trope! I especially loved Qianqian's thoughts of being a writer and her view of her characters when she says that no matter what kind of world they create, writers always love their characters deeply. As a fellow writer, it really made me smile :)
Trust me, it's even gayer than you would catch in the actual show. I would recommend looking up youtube videos…
also, idk where you are watching but there's a special 10 minute Ep. 37 after the official ending of 36 eps, you can find a link to that one google or reddit. definitely watch that to get the happy ending,,
Took me 4 years to start watching word of honor after finishing the untamed cuz I was so stuck on the untamed.…
Trust me, it's even gayer than you would catch in the actual show. I would recommend looking up youtube videos by AvenueX after you finish the show to get all the hidden stuff too!
Is that one also a period drama? Does he have a bigger role in it? I really loved Shanhu so I would love to add…
ouuu :0 I had no idea! the drama seems interesting and I was suprised to find the FL is played by an actress I liked from a different drama, plus he is high up on the supporting cast list so thanks for this recommendation! are you liking it so far?
For some reason I watched this while it was airing but I wasn't like very annoyed with the FL until maybe ep 23+…
I was annoyed by the FL's actions, but I never hated her? Like she is not a bad person but she was just way too stubborn and prejudiced and refused to see what's right in front of her for a bit too long. It felt unnecessarily dragged out because of that, and ruined the romance for me. But for me, the writing in those few episodes just really didn't make sense at all so I dislike it. It's totally based on each person's level of tolerance ig 😂
I LOVED this drama when it was airing but waiting for episodes to drop instead of being able to watch episodes…
I watched it back-to-back, but it still felt like 5 episodes too long for me personally. At my rate of 2-3 episodes per day, I spent like 3-4 days absolutely annoyed with her actions TT they really should have cut down on that, it's really the only flaw in the writing.
I didn't want to write a review, so I'm just gonna write in the comments for anyone contemplating whether to watch this or not.
If you picked this up for the transmigration trope, you should watch this. If you picked it up for Liu Yuning, this is probably one of the roles where I really loved watching him so yeah, go ahead. BUT be warned because he is going to put you in anguish.
Especially because the FL really tests your patience. This drama starts off on a comedic note, and I won't say I hated her personality, but it was funny only up to a point. After the 20 episodes, it stops being funny because she refuses to see Nan Heng as a proper person and in fact hurts him in a lot of ways emotionally, and also a little physically. If you can bite through the frustration and keep watching, they do try to improve and redeem her in the 30s, but it's not satisfying to a lot of people. I did find it good enough because the ending was good, but yeah. The romance really didn't speak to me, although I did like the characters.
I have never been annoyed with an FL in a c-drama this much, I'm not going to lie. I genuinely understand and give characters the benefit of the doubt to a large extent, but this one really tests your patience. I won't begrudge Li Yitong's acting on this, it's the writing of the FL that really disappointed me. I feel like they could have made this into a 36 episode drama and cut down on her being so stubborn for that many episodes. It really wasn't necessary.
It's a fun drama, and I would recommend it for the comedy, and the way they handle the writing and transmigration tropes, definitely. I feel like all the actors did a great job with the characters they had, and the OST is amazing too. Definitely give it a try if you can patiently pull through a couple of episodes from 20 to 30 ^^
