Title Love You Seven Times Spoiler
YCY dubs herself. Her voice is not necessarily high for Chinese standards, but Westerners may find it on the high…
yes exactly, which is why I said it's a flaw of the character not the actor
p.s. I think you should mark your comment as spoiler since someone who hasn't watched doesn't know she plays Cang Hai

I didn't mean it as a criticism, I usually don't care so much about voice acting, but there was this whiny way of speaking that Xiangyun often adopted that just kinda grated on me a bit lol. I think it's more of a flaw of the character than the actress since with the right direction this could have been completely avoided.

Just finished this and whoa. I didn't expect to like this drama as much as I did, the plot was really good and by a rare stroke of luck I'm not completely confused by the ending like it happens many times in c-dramas. The bgm of this drama was just top tier, first time I have been hooked more by the instrumentals. The acting was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though I wasn't the biggest fan of the voice acting of the FL, it was tolerable and didn't even matter so much because there was so much other good things to focus on. I can see why some would say the ending needed to be longer but I am too used to c-dramas ending like this tbh, I'm just glad that we wrapped up everyone's stories and not just the main leads. My favourite lifetime has to be the Tianji Compass initiated one ^^

I don't think there were any complaints over Tian Xiwei's screentime.
I didn't see that happen at all, I think they had many scenes together as befitting a main lead coupling, but to each their own

Oh yea, mainly about Xu Kai I think, but I did see one or two people saying that the couple didn't get enough moments either so I just spoke of it all together as main leads' screentime :]

I've seen that this one's got a very mixed reviews, so can anyone please tell me if the story is rushed or something…
might be a little late to answer but I just finished it and in my opinion, the ending isn't rushed per se, it just leaves a few questions unanswered. Like it would have been better if they had expanded on the explanations for some things more. Definitely a happy ending, like everyone has said, don't forget to watch the post credit scene of the last episode :)

I absolutely LOVED this drama, I really wasn't expecting to love it so much. The romance is so so good like genuinely the best I have seen amongst all c-dramas to the point I never once found any of their scenes together boring or intolerable. The chemistry, the dynamic, everything just went together so well. I loved the fantasy aspect, all of the side characters were so fun and lovely too, my favourites being Mei Si and Xuan Hui (Yi Da Qian & Zhou Zhan, who I already saw in separate dramas before, just seemed to make it even more fun; Zhou Zhan truly is a great actor). I saw some people complain that the main leads didn't get enough time, too much side characters story, but I feel like those are complaints from actor fans. Cause having well developed side characters who are not just there to complement the mains is better to make a world feel more real. The only problem I have is that the ending leaves some questions unanswered but I feel like that happens with a lot of dramas so it doesn't really bother me. I make my own interpretations and move on lol, altho I am tempted to give the novel a try to see if that can answer some of the questions better.

Final Verdict: definitely MUST watch for any xianxia lover, who wants a romance fantasy perfect balance. Definitely a lot of fun, with great characters, amazing music (I practically loved all the songs from this drama, and if I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be The Wind Stopped).

hii if anyone who has watched this can answer if the novel they get sucked into is a modern romance or a period romance, that would be very helpful!

Have you finished it yet?
Glad to be of help ;) and WoH!! That was my first exposure to Zhou Ye too. Maybe you removed this one because of some reviews or comments? Honestly, I have been browsing her stuff too recently, I was watching Legend of the Female General but I put that on hold since I wasn't feeling like that kind of a story. She is a really good actress; I thought I'd always see her as my Gu Xiang, but she does a great job of making all her roles feel separate. I started Scent of Time, another of her dramas, after BFTB. Her acting is great in that one too!

I rated it 8.5/10, and I'm mainly pasting this from my personal review/notes:

It was nice. Definitely worth one watch atleast but I was disappointed a fair bit too.
Zhou Ye and Hou Minghao's acting deserves its kudos, as does all of the supporting cast really. The premise was very interesting and the story did deliver on some aspects, but some of the writing choices and dialogues reveal the weaknesses of this drama far too well. Without giving specific spoilers, I just didn't like the sudden shift in the dynamic of the main trio in one particular arc (they felt ooc and it was unenjoyable frankly) but they do go back to their usual dynamic later on. So the middle of the drama was a little disappointing. The ending was nice, pretty standard for how c-dramas tend to end imho. The music/ost was nice, I definitely like the songs fairly if not a lot.

Overall, if you are considering whether to watch, I'd say that you should give it a try if you like fantasy elements/world-building, or if you like a couple dynamic that is like a sweet friendship, caring and carefree. If you can sit through the second male lead's arc, it's definitely an enjoyable watch.
I wouldn't recommend it if you want a dynamic that is more about tension and chemistry, or if you are looking for something super smart or mysterious. It's straightforward in its plot. If you want some mindless entertainment, go for it :) Hope this helps!

On Back from the Brink May 2, 2026
Started this a few days back because the premise sounded fun cause I love fantasy and xianxia stuff, and it has both Zhou Ye and Hou Minghao whom I love and 14 episodes in, I'm really enjoying it!! I was a bit unsure seeing some comments saying they couldn't get into it but honestly, for me, it is very fun. Maybe because I'm not really comparing it much to their other works, and ppl coming from LITC may be doing that so they can't enjoy much? Cause the main couple's chemistry is very different here, it's more light, fun, easy, than it was in LITC which had this tension and pull type of vibe that kept you on the edge of the seat. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to watching more of this because it's really been so much enjoyment so far!!

I watched this after I watched A Dream Within a Dream and while I liked that one too, TROTR was just so much fun and better at the couple romance. I absolutely loved the main pairing here, and both Zhao Lusi and Ding Yuxi did amazing in their roles. The puppy love sort of chemistry they showed just made me smile so much. Definitely a must watch for anyone who likes the trope!
I especially loved Qianqian's thoughts of being a writer and her view of her characters when she says that no matter what kind of world they create, writers always love their characters deeply. As a fellow writer, it really made me smile :)

Is that one also a period drama? Does he have a bigger role in it? I really loved Shanhu so I would love to add…
ouuu :0 I had no idea! the drama seems interesting and I was suprised to find the FL is played by an actress I liked from a different drama, plus he is high up on the supporting cast list so thanks for this recommendation! are you liking it so far?
