Bruh the sheer amount of coddling a bunch if GROWN ASS PEOPLE can do to another GROWN ASS PERSON after they've fucked up is absolutely mad. Checking the BOC post comments on insta literally raises my BP. Unfollowed for my own mental health jesus christ. Absolutely ridiculous
People who've never been in an abusive relationship don't realize that an abusive relationship isn't abusive all…
I would like to put my 2 cents here from 2 different angles.
Disclaimer: i am on neither ploi nor builds "side" (a disturbing and, frankly, disgusting concept that's being thrown around by fans. This isnt highschool gossip people, this is a felony). But i am someone who has both been in a very mentally abusive relationship and is also a psychology honours student.
1. As someone who has been in a toxic and abusive relationship - leaving isnt easy. It should be, god do we know it should be. But it isnt. You love them 85% of the time but the 15% is enough to kill you. Looking back on my relationship, which took place 5 yrs ago now, i can so clearly see how toxic and abusive it was. But when i was in it? My friends and family had to step in and perform an actual intervention to get me away from him. I'm so incredibly lucky to say all i came away with was a borderline eating disorder. And this senario, as you so eloquently put it, does not mean someone is suffering from a mental illness. In fact, statistics have shown that women in abusive relationships return to their abusers 6.3 times before leaving for good. The reasons are extensive and far too nuanced to lay out here.
2. As an psychology honours student i will not speak as a practitioner because i think it is essential to remind everyone that no one but a psychologist or psychiatrist should be making any sort of diagnostic claims. However, as someone a year off practicing, i would like to point out the sheer irresponsibility of diagnosing someone who is half way across the world to you and you have never met. Contrary to popular belief, psychologists dont read minds - we need multiple 1-1 sessions discussing the ins and outs of ur life before we can evem CONSIDER diagnosis. This is the FIRST thing you are taught at school. I say this because the rampant over-diagnosis of mental illness and drug prescription is a pandemic in our field and is something that MUST be navigated with the upmost care. I dont know whether you are a practitioner or not (i almost hope you aren't because that would be so much worse) but i want to highlight to everyone here: do not diagnose urself or others over tweets and the flashbulb scenes of one's life that they choose to share. It is dangerous.
The flower pot scene keeps bothering me. The hand looked like a woman's hand, but it did not look like Waree's…
Definitely could be Sani! But that would honestly be heart-breaking cause she gives me such sweet vibes. The car and flower pot accidents were actually very dangerous. I wonder if the person who stole Ayan's book is also the person behind these other 2 instances. Or do we perhaps have a 3rd player in this.
Talking about this stuff is quite interesting haha
IKR, i played back the poster burning scene in ep2 like a million times and then individually hunted for scenes where the watches of the main characters were shown so i could compare. Had me feeling crazy but so satisfying when you make a connection.
I do not know if its true, but someone mentioned that in the special episode, the behind the scenes one, First…
Actually the fake blood is the only one that put me off -> i would say that one actually fits better with Akk's MO yet we weren't rlly shown anything about who was behind it. It definitely makes more sense with how Akk usually targets the props rather than people.
Okay i've been seeing a bit of debate on whether Akk has been responsible for all the incidences and here's my two cents.
If you've noticed the cinematography of the curse incidences, the director (i hope on purpose) has portrayed these in 2 distinct ways.
1. a student in uniform committing these acts -> the burning of the posters in ep 2 (which, on re-watching, i realised you can see a watch on the culprit's wrist that shines silvery. On observing the other scenes, Akk's watch looks almost identical while the other "relevant" prefect's watches are way off. I don't think Namo even wears a watch) and the actual attempted arson we saw in the latest ep which was revealed to be Akk. I think these two incidents ONLY were done by our prefect head.
2. Either a single hand or no explanation is offered for the curse being carried out. This includes the flower pot, car, fake blood incident and stealing Ayan's notebook. I think there is a second person doing all of this (as we know, it was stated by Ayan himself that it was impossible for Akk to have stolen his notebook so someone else must've been responsible). These incidences also could've actually hurt "the world will remember" gang rather than just scare them.
All in all, i genuinely don't think Akk is stupid enough to do things like the flower pot and car incident because i don't think he would ever do something that could actually hurt someone. Even the arson in the latest video wasn't meant to hurt PEOPLE, just destroy property.
In conclusion: I love this show so much and yes i will not rest until next Friday O-O
One thing that worried me is that how am i gonna see them in the Moonlight Chicken after shipping them here this…
I might be tripping out but i'm pretty sure they are the second couple in moonlight chicken? Like, First is Mixx's (to be) ex and Khao is in love with Earth and get's rejected so in terms of writing and how First and Khao are being hyped by GMMTV, it would make the most commercial sense to have them end up together. Also one of the reasons i expected Moonlight chicken to come out before The Eclipse, since usually the side couples get more hype than the main couple (psychological response -> we see them less so we want them more) and it would've been a nice way to introduce the firstkhao couple to the public.
Does anyone agree that AJ and JJ act much better when only one of them is in a series, rather than cast together?
OMG i have been gunning HARD for my boys to get solo star roles -> GMMTV make it happen man.
I actually seriously agree with you but i think that's more due to the writing rather than their acting. What I've noticed is that writers have great difficulty writing two, individual and rounded characters for the boys when they are in shows together. Instead, they just end up as "the twins", two people but they hold one identity in the show. Because of that, they often blur into the background and really lose individual impact. I also think it's harder for the boys to bounce energy off of anyone but themselves when they are in a show together (this could be due to them being twins or due to poor writing/directing) which makes their performances feel very isolated/detached from the rest of what's happening.
anyway~ bottom line: i will riot until AJ and JJ are main leads in their respective dramas XD
no no let me tell you this first you cannot romantize rape no matter what, it doesn't matter if it's a fantasy.…
Hello! Thank you for you're reply 😊
I completely see where you're coming from as well, the substance will most definitely get altered by the time it ends up on screen but i do also have a personal bias against authors and productions like MAME (this author is quite close to MAME) who produce these shows and touch in subject matter like SA bit either water it out to the point where it's DubCon instead of SA or just handle SA incredibly poorly. What i'm saying is that while i don't want to judge the SHOW yet, i am definitely cautious of it considering who the author is friends with and their track records.
I do also want to say that while the shows may have a M or even R ratinf - 99% of the time these r completely ignored. Yes, in an ideal world people under a certain age would not engage with this content but that simply isnt the reality. I've seen girls as young as 12 proclaiming boldly that they are actively engaging with R18 shows like KP and TharnType. So i believe this is an important consideration, esp since BL was founded off of the back of Yaoi which has a target audience of young girls.
no no let me tell you this first you cannot romantize rape no matter what, it doesn't matter if it's a fantasy.…
I would like to toss some hats in the ring of this VERY important conversation if you don't mind.
DISCLAIMER: i enjoy civil and open-minded conversations. Please feel free to argue or correct me but please do so with humanity. Thank you <3
Yes, people should be allowed to enjoy whatever media they so choose to consume and not be shamed of it. if they aren't bringing that shit to the real world: more power to them. And yes, absolutely, if dark media helps in your process of healing and dealing with trauma, you should absolutely be allowed to do that without being labelled horrible things. But in cases of shows like the one described above, hate the game not the player is an important concept. Lemme explain.
I'm a neuropsychologist by trade, have dedicated my life to psychology. And there are a number of very celebrated behavioural and developmental studies which indicate a direct causational link between exposure to media and the formation and solidification of governing rites (both behavioural and psychological) (Bandura et al. 1961). This is especially true when dealing with a young, impressionable audience - as many BL viewers are.
Psychological mumbo-jumbo aside, bottom line is: hand-waving this sort of media as fiction and thus having little to no affect on the real world in just not accurate: Media has always been and will always be one of the most influential industries in the world.
I want to clarify here that IF this series was actually an exploration of dark psychology, or trauma bonding and the way victims of abuse often have extreme difficulty letting go of their abusers, then by all means this show should be supported and its boldness appreciated. However, I'm not sure if you have read this book, but this was not that. I'm all for deep diving into psychology and the dark human mind but this was not portraying twisted narcissistic behaviour or victim guilt for what it is -> this was romanticising it, erasing and trivialising it.
So should people be allowed to watch and enjoy whatever tf they want? Yes, yes they should. But should shows like this which, for years, have perpetuated and (in some cases) created harmful stereotypes regarding gay relationships and the trauma of (specifically male) SA survivors, be now called out for what it is they are doing? Yes, yes they should.
So pretty much this long ass post was to say: hate the game not the player for this type of media. And honestly if you don't want to hate the game for your own reasons that's fine but please don't think hating the game is bringing fiction to life and thus unimportant. It is important, it is necessary, and it's the only way the BL community has come as far as it has in getting some real, nuanced portrayal of the LGBTQ+ community and thus shying away from it's (somewhat tainted and stigmatized) roots.
Love Syndrome? Bitch did you mean Stockholm Syndrome O-O What in the name of god did i just read. Nah, that synopsis sent me for a whirl, this isn't a love story baby this is a full on horror story. It just *kept* getting worse. Rape -> Blackmail -> literal physical and mental abuse -> the epitome of romance ???
I am deceased, who writes this. Shit had me rolling T-T
Final thought: free my man Frank from this hell, ain't no way this mf is getting stuck in a 2-part rendition of this circus show.
To the darlings and loves who I've shared the last 13 weeks with, we're finally in the home stretch. It's been an absolutely wild ride, the likes of which no BL has previously experienced I don't think. It has been an honour sharing this ride with all of you <3
PS. To all my VP Stans, let's brace ourselves for whatever the finale holds.
Hi my angels, i've been MIA for a little while cause life but omg hello, I am back and damn my VP heart is soaring. I am dead and deceased. @boredpotato bby omg look at how far our psycho bf's have come 🤩💗
Baby, baby I just woke up and Im shitting bricks cause I saw someone say VP was very watered down compared to…
I think I need to stop doing that, comparing to novel. Like I keep looking for these scenes that I loved in the book and get disappointed when they aren't there but that's not fair to the show I don't think.
