I think it's great to see much more in the drama than in the book. In the drama we immediately see how much more Jing is involved in CX getting the throne. In the book we only got it confirmed in FL deathbed when he admitted that it was Jing who came up with the plan. I am curious to know more about the 37 years with XL since in the book it was only her perspective - everything was very muddy and we could only imagine what had happened.

he is pretending to be useless and pose no danger to the princes. only as a weak prince can he be "discarded" and sent away.

her mom inserted some magic tool in her, which changed her appearance a bit (the peach blossom on her forehead/birth mark). It was because she has a different dad and her eyes would've given her away. With this magic inside her, she is able to change her appearance and also gender herself as well - she did it as a kid to hide from bad people who wanted her dead.

two amazing episodes. tjc's visuals are chef kiss as ffb. I love how he was not able to keep the facade when he got jealous, totally was himself in those seconds, making XY a bit scared.

I think in that moment he was just scared to lose her and would say anything to her to make her stay. Actually he knows it's not so easy to kick them all out and to make her empress, but in that moment he was in panic mode. In his dreams he would like to make her empress, but in reality it's not possible without causing chaos and losing power.

even though it’s a happy ending, it didn’t feel like it. too much shit happened by the end, was not able to enjoy the “happy ending” at all

She was even confused and he told her to still follow with the ritual. I just want to understand his mind better why he had to do it.

finished the novel, the translation is so good, kudos to the translator. we are in for a hell of a ride. I am still very shook and have a novel hangover.

what's the significance to the final scene with XY and her gege when he asked her to take the red flower and wear it forever. I didn't really understand why he asked her to do it. was it a sign to him that he would forever see her as his wife and never let go?

yes I agree. you see more than just her perspective. for example him turning up in her room, although late. it wasn’t shown like that in the Manhua, probably also not that obvious in the novel (I haven’t read it though). to me those little gestures show that he cares all the time.
