I don't get the constant comparison between the novel and the adaptation. People should know by now that the government has strict regulations on "absurd" elements in modern shows. That includes system and time travel. (Only show I was sad regarding the system removal in Live Surgery Room as it was one of the more interesting part of the novel. A big miss that they didn't make surgery a live stream requirement.)
It changes the dynamic of the show, but it should not be defined as good or bad, just different. I would rather watch a different show than watch a 1-1 adaptation. If I wanted a 1-1, I'll read the novel instead.

Mr. Siam and Sec. Xin is a fresh take that is quite enjoyable to watch.

I predict that this drama won't receive a high rating on MDL, as its primary strength lies in showcasing a world…
I have a feeling you may be right. RMJI already have a really good donghua adaptation, so I wonder if the Chinese novel fans will enjoy this. Ever Night season 1 was really good in my opinion, but no one on this site talks much about it.

The fun in RMJI is watching Han Li grow from a naive and cautious boy into a cunning and cautious cultivator. It's not too difficult acting wise, but still have to be likable.

That said, I did enjoy Yang Yang in King's Avatar quite a bit.

No. Why do you think he reincarnated? In the novel, he had a medical system .
The dead person, while only seen from the back, is most likely the mc's dad. The teenager in that scene is the MC. This is reinforced midway through the episode with the logo scene between the father and son. The mc had likely been in the hospital while his dad was alive. It's like his second home, so he's very familiar with the layout.

Romance?
If this adaptation follows the novel, there will be minor romantic subplot with the nurse Yiren. The bulk of the novel centers around his progression as a doctor. I am slightly hesitate about this adaptation since is no mention of a live surgical broadcast (despite the name being based around that premise.) It also seem like they took out the system, which can be a bad or good thing.

okay ik im judging a bit too fast but i just want to know if i should continue or not, im halfway/or more through…
Episode 1 is mostly a prelude. The story doesn’t really start until Lee Sung Min character shows up. You should definitely give episode 2 a try before deciding to drop.

I'm wondering why the ratings are so high. The leads are both extremely physically attractive but the FL's acting…
It has high rating because not a lot of people watch it. If this was popular, I can guarantee the rating would be lower.

People search for romcom as a form of escapism, and so it doesn't matter that it is cheesy and cringey. It doesn't pretend to be some high-brow drama that will win best series. Yes, it's superficial, but everyone going in to watch it knows it. It's like cotton candy; fluffy, sugary, and sweet, but absolutely not good for you or have much substance/nutrients. The expectations for this romcom is so low, that it usually hits the mark for most people. You went into watching the series looking at the rating, which gives you a certain amount of expectations. When it falls short, that is naturally the response.

This is one of those rare romcoms that I find relaxing to watch because there is little drama. The couples get together with very little drama. Yes, the couples are easy on the eye, but so are 99% of dramas out there. They just click for a lot of people. In all my 25 years in dramaland, starting with Hong Kong dramas, I have never seen a couple so disgustingly perfect, lol.

I have laughed my whole way through watching this, and love every minute of it.

I watched it raw so I don't really understand the reason they are nearly breaking up. Could you explain to me…
It's sort of a trust issue, or his lack of trust in her ability. In the beginning, we get the sense that they are evenly matched, but the more BeiBei gets to know Dr. Zhou, the more she feels like she needs to match up with his work ethic and she wants him to feel proud of her.

In the scene with Wu Di, it's implied that although successful, she has never been serious at her job. We have seen her slacking off work by pretending to get hurt before. This is the first time she put in effort to get a role. It's to prove to herself and him that she can be serious.

This is a misunderstanding since Dr. Zhou didn't ask his friend to give her the role. However, it was on the back of his mind, and hence a part of him did look down on her and did not trust in her ability. He is not guilty in action, but guilty in thoughts. I found the scene where he said he can't forgive himself for looking down on her very endearing.

For the viewers, this is pretty much a non-issue, lol. Yes, I rolled my eyes watching this "issue" played out. She's hurt and needs some alone time, but she'll get over it. They will probably make up the next episode. Like seriously, episode 14 reveal is bigger than this issue and he basically forgave her the next episode.

How is the pacing and olot development?
Pacing is pretty quick. All the conflicts are resolved quickly, nothing drag on for more than an episode. Only thing dragging is the official episode releases.
Plot revolves around situations and conflicts relating to being a celebrity. There's really no over-arching plotline, just a bunch of plot points to get the couples developed. It's relatively stress free, except for fans waiting for English subtitles.
Side note: Per official release schedule, I recommend people waiting until the 2nd week of June if they want to binge watch. (If you understand Viet, Indonesian, and Thai subs, you can unofficially watch up to EP22.)

This is the sort of crack/guilty pleasure fluff I have been looking for. It's not looking to win any award for creativity or plot, but it's an absolute blast to watch. It's a romcom in its finest form, FL is straightforward and mature when she needs to be and ML is an absolute gentleman. No need to bring your brain or stress from real life, just sit back and enjoy, and maybe squeal and ponder if Dr. Zhou can exist in real life. On EP18, and can't wait to watch more Dr. Zhou and BeiBei.
