But that's not even good, so nope. They're both "stiff", and the music is bad.
the music is distracting its so bad and the way the scene was edited together didn't seem to be ordered right. its like they shot the scene once from a bunch of angles and then randomly ordered the clips in editing. Trying to picture the actors in a physical space doing this was weird cause they jumped positions so randomly.
the writing, the editing (transitions and ordering of shots), the audio (obviously cheap/stock music not made…
the production looks like a cheap minimalist covid series with only a few actors and a couple sets. But BL's haven't looked like this since the very beginning of the pandemic so it comes across as weird, and empty.
theres more to a series than the actors. the editing, music, writing... everything here is subpar except may the quality of the camera. the stills of the show look 'fine' but the shots are simple shot reverse shot and edited together in a confusing way that dosn't make it clear what the timeline is. Especially for episode one. the production looks like a cheap minimalist covid series with only a few actors and a couple sets. But BL's haven't looked like this since the very beginning of the pandemic so it comes across as weird, and empty.
I am just gonna wait this series to finish or the reviews to get better before watching this. I already watched…
i also say no, im dropping it after the first two. The quality of the first two episodes is really poor. The prologue was fine for me, don't ruin it for yourself by watching the mess that happens 3 months later
the writing, the editing (transitions and ordering of shots), the audio (obviously cheap/stock music not made for the scenes) is just bad I don't think I can continue this one. Thats even without the turn-off of the cheating. Something I don't usually mind when it's acknowledged as a bad thing, but it makes the characters come across as gross so far.
I don't... get the hate that this show is receiving? People are talking about how toxic and f'ed up the characters…
i kinda feel like people are reading the reviews here and saying its toxic cause someone else said its toxic without really considering what the characters are saying/doing. The rating on Viki where there's less interaction with reviews/comments rate it at an 8.2 after 97k reviews which seems pretty accurate to what i watched. idk maybe im just seeing something no one else here is
I don't... get the hate that this show is receiving? People are talking about how toxic and f'ed up the characters are but... they're not? Not at all. They're all open about what they want and expect from each other. If you read Hase and Tomo as demiromantic maybe it seems a lot more understandable? Terada isn't forced into anything, she even lays out her feelings with Akari instead of trying to hide them. I get if you think she's bland or without development, I agree with bland but do think she's changed at least a little from the beginning. Her lack of self-esteem is a bit annoying but I've seen far worse characters get better reception. She does leave him when he's ignoring her she doesn't just accept it. When she confesses and thinks he doesn't want to date her she says she won't let him touch her anymore. Tomo doesn't do anything Terada doesn't want, ever. He doesn't manipulate her either. They're both just emotionally stunted, that's not toxic. Hase suggests what is essentially an open marriage, that's not toxic either. Tomo not knowing if he loves her when she asks isn't toxic. Its not like he's aware of her feelings and using them to manipulate her either, having sex without feelings or one sided feelings isn't toxic either. I don't think I've watched another drama where characters are so open about what they expect from one another, the only hickups happen when they don't interpret something the same way or ask the wrong questions.
The ending was a bit rushed, I'm confused as to what the result of Hase's agreement with his parents is. But honestly I thought it was rather mature? No one cheated on anyone other than the bf in the beginning, they backed off when told no. The most manipulative thing I can think of was Hase telling Tomo not to sleep with Terada and write his book, but like..... that's barely anything compared to some other dramas. I guess maybe the middle school relationship and how it ended upset people? he didn't force her then either he was just awkward and it caused misunderstanding. It wasn't the act itself that bothered her it was the nonreaction after.
IDK maybe I'm just forgetting a particular scene /line or something but I'm really confused by the reactions.
1. The high budget (it looks expensive) 2. The cinematography (the teasers are art, the camerawork looks almost hollywood level) 3. Convincing fight scenes (no offence to other series but i've yet to see a fight that looks like their fist was a foot a way from connecting when throwing punches) 4. Mature themes (people are sick of the university setting, there are only a handful of crime centred thai BL) 5. The dedication of the producers + staff to bring us this drama despite the delays 6. The cast (It has changed over time but there's some familiar names AND new talent who don't come across as amateurs.) 7. The spice (just being honest its been a while since we've had a series this ...revealing)
It pretty much ticks all the boxes for people who are looking for something new/different. I've seen so many cheap, hastily thrown-together series with bad writing/acting and there's rarely any real stakes other than a miscommunication/break up in the 11th episode. Those shows have their own value true and I do enjoy watching them, they are most of what I watch to some degree) but they are not my preference. Its much closer to the kind of drama I would watch from a western country (hannibal), or a Korean drama (vincenzo, Devil Judge, Strangers from Hell etc)
I'm confused, did they really do the cream bun thing at the end of episode 2 and then not acknowledge it at all in ep 3? or did i miss a scene? There should be some sort of reaction especially when its the ending shot
I have read the manhwa myself and has been excited when I saw the news that they are doing an adaptation. Now…
the budget seems to be pretty small, they only have a couple sets that they use repeatedly, the acting is....not good but far from the worst I've seen. I think the cringey content makes it come across as worse than it is but still obviously inexperienced.
They have moved to 51% without any new subs. So they are pretty much still at 1%. I don’t get why Viki think…
they need to have at least a handful of paid subbers to help out the volunteers and make sure less popular shows get subbed quickly. Its not just Viki risking loosing subs its the shows themselves loosing views to pirated sites thats an issue, if no one is watching on Viki they'll get less dramas who want to air on their.
But like this is ridiculous its been days, i've never watched a show on Viki that took longer than 48 hours at most to get to 95%+, some times it'll hover around there with a line or two unfinished but at least the show is watchable
Im sorry I just.... how is it that none of the 3 characters who talked with Kijung about his stupid jealousy over his wife having lived with another man haven't slapped him and screamed "you were literally caught cheating in bed in the house you shared with your ex fiance while living with her"? It makes no sense? Like i get it he's an asshole he'll be jealous about this, but why on earth has no one else called him out on it?
I am really loving this show so far that I kinda want to know if there are any similar tv shows like this where…
Can also recommend Devil Judge, its just ooooone female character's presence away from being Shonen Ai pretty much. Also recommend BL's Manner of Death and History 3 Trapped, which is another Detective X Mob Boss drama
