ShenLi is frustrated because XZ is the one doing the pushing and pulling games on her. She was jealous and getting back at XZ by grabbing Mofang's hand. She has never lead him on in the novel and told him straight away she's not into him. On the rooftop she was about to say that her heart is already taken by someone *cough cough* but stopped herself.
Though I do understand you. If I was Mofang I would be heartbroken as well.... years of friendship and life/death situations.

ShenLi meant that it's not really about status, but her heart which is already taken by the goofy Ancient God. In the novel as in the drama she has never given him any hope nor was she seducing him. Though it was mean of her when she was grabbing his hand... just because she was jealous, frustrated and getting back at XZ.

I think he made a conscious choice to avoid her in this lifetime as his eyes were awakened by XZ. He basically broke the cruel fate. This way, both girls will be spared. Actually it's not about which girl it is but the soul. Their bodies and face stay the same but his true love's soul may reside in a different body each lifetime.

Actually the drowning scene and the lantern one were made especially for PA fans to give us a closure ;) They both said that they wouldn't want to do PA2 and rather meet in some intense moder drama where they are enemies to lovers or just spies trying to kills each other lol xD
