This drama should be titled forgiving princess instead and not rebel.so don't expect any rebellion from her end
I think they used the adjective "rebel" because she didn't subscribe to an unhappy political marriage like her other female relatives, and actively worked hard to make her marriage work. She wasn't really loyal to the Wang family after she got married, but instead every time she met someone new, she would ask for loyalty to her husband and herself from them, not towards the Wang family. I think they meant she was a "rebel" from that perspective.

As an aside, Defne's hair is to die for! It's gravity-defying, red as fire, and symbolizes her fiery personality and sassiness ;D

Ok I'm Turkish myself and I didn't know we made this much remakes like wow. Anyways I'm watching Kiralik Ask/Rental…
I actually got recommended Kiralik Ask by a friend in high school and it was the first Turkish drama I saw, and til now it has held the top Turkish drama position for me, it was soooo good! Now, I sometimes find myself holding drama couples to Omer and Defne's standard whenever I'm watching something, from any country. Their chemistry was out of the world. Though 69 episodes were a bit much for me, especially since one episode is like 2 hours long, but if you skip all the family drama scenes, you'd really enjoy it.

I actually finished this a year ago, but I was wondering . . .
How come they left TJZ mortal, while her hubby and son will be immortal? Their ending may be happy in the short term, but in the long term, she is going to eventually die, and won't be able to be with her hubby and son forever. Also, when she gets old, it will get harder for them to be seen publicly and have people not wondering why a 60/70 something old lady is holding hands or being affectionate with a 20 something man. This was kind of in my mind all this time, so I just thought that someone here might've had the same thought too.

The writers could've atleast made her immortal by saying that her pregnancy spontaneously caused her to turn immortal, or they could've found another way to make her immortal by some kind of new research the other immortals did, or atleast something to give audience the reassurance that she is not going to die after a few decades from old age.

I remember watching Go Ahead, and that scene when they said that dialogue about growing up really resonated with me. It summed up everything they were feeling when all three had to separate from each other when they were teens. And that scene when Ling Xiao was crying looking at his laptop with the Beijing Uni application open, and then he closes it, I can feel his pain, and almost imagine that that quote probably went through his head in that moment. He truly grew up at that moment he closed that laptop. Reply if you remember that scene!

Please do tell me what dramas are those if you remember them ;D
Yes, you should definitely watch Le coup de foudre. Other ones with healthy relationships were a gentleman's dignity, boss and me, Bhuppae sunniwat, put your head on my shoulders, lawless lawyers, my story for you, five children, father is strange. These are off the top of my head. Now that I think about it, there are quite a few dramas with realistic relationships!

Did anyone else get Le coup de foudre vibes when watching the main couple? The relationship themes are very similar, which is why I was surprised this wasn't also inspired by a real story and I could imagine it happening to someone in the real world.

I love it! When I first watched this drama, I was also blown by the trust, respect, and equality the main couple's relationship had! I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 other dramas with a relationship like Lin Xi and Jiang Zheng Han's, where they listened to each other, didn't get into unnecessary conflicts, and had a maturity that enabled them to be empathetic to one another. I loved the maturity they had in their relationship even at a very young age, and I can almost picture this kind of relationship happening somewhere in the world, it was so realistic!
Really great article, you put all my thoughts into words, it seems.
