I have a feeling that the one who saved the child Yi Gon was himself, the elder one.
I have been feeling this since I saw that scene in first episode

The problem with the drama , it includes so many characters , that too in two backdrops /two worlds , and you have police investigation , you have fairy tale, you have monarchy , you have double roles,..it could only do good if there would be more episodes or Story should have been just between the King and his Uncle for getting the throne ....

Is it only me or does LMH feel like he's actually depressed? I don't mean its his character, he feels like a dark…
Because he knew, the drama is not well made ..you can tell from the face of actors and actresses ..that is why in press event, they said that drama improve after episode 3 ..which seemed true

Anyone else feels like LMH looks bored? I mean it's like he is not playing his character with the same enthusiasm…
His character is not well .written .it seems his role is being added later in the script , that is why all romance scenes seems to be misplaced . In dramas like Faith ,Personal Taste and Gangnam Blues , Lee Min Ho did not play rich spoiled brat , rather he played tsundre type of roles...I agree that he does not play any great role and he is not hell a great actor , he seems average , but unnecessary hatred he is getting in grab of so called 'opinions' reveals ignorance

Since episode 4 drama has shown improvement and it is going well , though not very great , but it is soothing , if only first 3 episode helped in the building up of relationship , it would have been much better
On The King: Eternal Monarch May 2, 2020
They literary just put Japan plot to dress Lee Min Ho in navy dress...otherwise this event has nothing to do with the story line .....Though drama has shown little improvement since episode 4 , but I can sense that KIM EUN SOOK 's heart is not it ..An artist should not be forced to write commercial reasons

Episode 1-3 were fillers and boring , but drama picks up in Episode 4 ...though romance part is still seem forced, but plot where his step -uncle conspiring to dethrone him , and here detectives are uncovering truth seems very interesting

After having heart break experience on watching 2 episodes of this drama, today , I gather my courage to watch remaining 3rd and 4th episode . For 3rd episode , I can say it was boring and a filler , I was just skipping scenes ...but ...but Episode 4 has captured my attention...it feels like suddenly the drama has picked up its reigns to a right path , which is a competitive battle between a king and his Uncle in a game where everyone are at stake ....Personally , I think this drama does not need any romance , all those love scenes seems to be enforced and I will going to skip those annoying moments further ... I am more interested in a fight and how it unfolds in future

Well being a BL fan , I am more keen to dream about the romance between male detective (Kang shin jae ) and the King....I think his character is much more developed that female protagonist, we as an audience are more attached to him ...Both him and the king are suffering , one is rogue and another is sophisticated and regal; one is rich and another is poor - a best ingredient for fairly tale .... both of them at first hate each other , but subtly admired each other bravery.....Both of them need each other ..Oh oh I wish Korean was not that conservative .. I really ship Kang shin jae with King .....

I think it’s the bad acting.
Basically , it's not about richness as much as superiority and perfection , know it all kind of attitude that his character most of time has ..as in perfect taste, in faith , he was not rich ...But I think he is really good actor if you watch his movie Gangnam Blues his comedic timing is good which is most difficult part of acting ...I think his success a kind of become bondage for him as well .....he cannot get out of this ..but this drama is specifically bad for all the reason I have written...

I think it’s the bad acting.
It is not so much about acting even though it is average , but until you don't have good script and good direction , an actor could not do much ....There are two directors which made over all flow dis- coherent and writing seems very lazy ..or the imagination of the writer could not be properly executed because of onslaught of coronavirus

It's hard to believe this is written by kim eun sook. Her drama always hooked me in epi 1 itself. But this is…
Exactly this is what I am thinking .... as an audience , I don't mind cliche fairy tales , if that drama can hooked you up for example Her Private Life , which was so simple , cliche but I enjoyed it , but this drama is so boring lacking any spark among different characters , instead the dialogue between characters seem irritating and annoying ...They literally objectified Lee Min Ho just like female celebrities objectified for male audience ....everyone keeps on praising his looks , but his over all sketch is shallow
On The King: Eternal Monarch Apr 20, 2020
The poster design reflect itself the poor quality of drama ...It is just looking beautiful, otherwise there is no coherence in designing , writing , direction and editing...Only cinematography and the Villain who are rescuing this drama

I think drama is very poorly executed ...major drawback of this drama which should be its strongest point is the boring , poorly edited character Interactions ...that is why chemistry is lacking ......It is does not look funny at all ... and It is not fault of actors including Lee Min Ho , rather the REAL PROBLEM is employing TWO DIRECTORS ..that's why story lacks flow and editing is proof of it ......the to and fro between thriller and romance seems forced upon ..On one hand , they want you to look at it wonderful fairy-tale and on other hand , it suddenly jumps into thriller and conspiracy

2nd episode was very disappointing. Typical LMH drama, full of talk.. No offence, just my thought.
Agreed with you ..atleast other LMH drams are enjoyable to watch and usually felt light hearted , but this is so dragging and banter does not work ...They have missed the opportunity to be funny at the scenario when someone faces new world completely
On The King: Eternal Monarch Apr 18, 2020
2nd episode was so boring and annoying ...the bickering is nothing close to funny , but irritating ...Lee min Ho kept on telling parallel world in monotone voice ....I was expecting too much from the drama ...but the writing seems very lazy ...there are no punch lines ...it is so boring and disappointing
On The King: Eternal Monarch Apr 18, 2020
For all those who confused with timeline , actually this drama is based on the time travel so it means somebody travel back from 2019 ( Democratic Korea) to 1990 ( Kingdom of Korea) in order to save the little prince ......it reminds me of Harry Potter : Prisoner of Azakaban .....and in my opinion , whoever saved the prince is not Kim Go Eun rather Lee Min Ho himself ...I doubt which Lee Min Ho , because fate of his parallel doppelganger is still not revealed .......
Best part of this first episode is Lee Jung Jin (the villain) what a commanding presence, voice and mannerism ....He really carried the first episode for me
