Apparently there already has a talk about season two because there is supposed to be a time jump. So it will probably…
I think it's because in both cases they are minors, so realistically in Chinese culture what they can do is very limited since there really is no way around the parents opposing, unless they run away or something but that wouldn't pass. The only acceptable way for any of them to be happy together is if they are independent adults, thus the time jump

The time jump actually happens much later, they spend a good amount of time being lovey-dovey as a real couple so I'm really hoping we get that if there is a S2
This series has the worst luck ⦠Novel reader hating Because they felt the actors looks donāt match the book…
It's so true...They even added some original content in attempt to create more action in the show since the original novel has even less moments until much much later(kissing scene because of the dare). It made novel readers hate even more, and still not enough to please show watchers. I understand people finding it too slow though, the pace is way better in a novel format. It's a very sweet, heartwarming but uneventful story for most parts of the story, just daily school life of two genius students being top of the school. They did their best but I just don't think it's a well suited story to adapt without changing A LOT.
I think the same thing, there doesn't need to be a sex scene like kinnporshe or 4 minutes, but there could be…
It has nothing to do with the director, it's following the original novel which is very slow paced. I admit I got a bit impatient reading it so I skipped as well, I guess they didn't want to change the timeline too much when adapting it. Everything you mentioned does eventually happen later on once they confirm their relationship, many many cute moments and direct romantic dialogues. Just praying there can be a season two for that
I thought they'd be their gay role models, but at this point, Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian would have to be the ones…
For real hahaha, I totally thought they were already together but just laying low, but as episodes progress I realized they haven't even figured it out themselves after all those years ?! Please
Are you serious? I could say I feel uncomfortable by your sexualizing profile pic!
It isn't exactly normal if it happens in real life in 2024, but it is not an abnormal "trope" to use in series. We all have different system of reference so it's ok to not be comfortable with it, but my point is that it is a commonly found trope in Chinese shows, movies, etc so it isn't considered abnormal IN MEDIA by Taiwanese audience. They did it volunteerily as well. Most most people here wouldn't even know it's a thing so I want to provide that cultural context.

Maybe you haven't noticed but the show doesn't happen in 2024, the phones they use are clues...I won't say more to not spoil. Otherwise I see where you are coming from, it is definitely a cultural difference because Asian countries don't have as big of a taboo to nudity. To sexuality? Yes definitely. But nudity itself isn't as much associated to sexuality the way it is the US or other countries, people go to public baths all the time so being naked around others is normalized. Running around naked is a known trope and often used as a dare or consequence the way it happens in the show, the term č£øå„ in Chinese is a specific term for that, it's just a thing, this show didn't make it up or anything. This scene isn't intended to be sexualized and Taiwanese/Chinese audience are familiar with the concept so nobody would find it inappropriate. Hope this helps!
Again, itās NOT a bromanceā¦who the hell kisses their ābrosā twice?š³. Some of yāall are soo used to…
Omg thank you, I couldn't say this better. It's also a cultural difference, some straight romance c dramas be out there with barely a kiss in the entire series and nobody is doubting wether it's friendship or romance.
I feel like with each episode they're look more like brothers rather than lovers. I assume Jiang Tian's mum accepted…
I see what you mean, but I think it makes sense for them to find a sense of belonging in each other. They both get the comfort and companionship they never got from their parents in this relashionship, which is what they need the most at the moment. Relashionships are multi dimensional, I don't think it takes away from the romance, which will be more and more dominant from now on. It's like childhood friends who grew up together and consider each other as family, then getting together as a couple.
I like ZLY and WYB but I find the story so boring and none of the side characters or otherMLs are interesting.…
I completely agree, I'm surprised so many people find this drama amazing. I love both of them but in the pool of wuxia dramas of this genra, it's a very mediocre production and disappointing considering the original novel is apparently very good.
The synopsis seems to assign them all very stereotypical sexist abilities. Is this the case?
I wouldn't say so, even if one of the characters fall into the stereotypical cute and innocent girl, but she isn't stupid and has her own place within the group. Especially since the other girl is as strong and smart so I think it's a good balance as there are girls like both in real life, same goes with the guys. All of them are well rounded and has fairly good character development so I definitely recommend !
